We are finally planning a trip to WDW for our kiddos and would love to go see the Christmas decorations! My question is this - Is the week after Thanksgiving very crowded? We are considering the week after Thanksgiving or one of the first two weeks in December. The advantage to the week after Thanksgiving is we will be about 4 hours closer (it is an 18 hour trip to WDW for us) while visiting family for Thanksgiving...we can then leave from their house and head to WDW for a Sunday arrival! But if the crowds are alot lower during the first two weeks of December then I would rather go then. Opinions? Thanks!

I have been the first week of dec but that was probably 10 yrs ago and it was not crowded at all. There was a freaky cold spell that week so we needed to by jeans. The good thing was all the Christmas decorations were up and very pretty

We are planning for the same week as you and from reading some of the reports it sounds like alot of the crowd leaves on the weekend after your Thanksgiving. I think it will be a nice quiet time to go.

Until recently that is the time of year we always visited WDW. Now that we have gone many other times of the year I have a lot to compare to. The week after Thanksgiving, starting on Sunday, is very low crowds. I absolutely think it is the very best time of the year to go to enjoy the Christmas holiday, usually nice weather and low crowds. We can't wait until that week works out for us again.

That week is now very different from 10 years ago. It is still a lower crowd time to visit, but the crowds are more moderate than low. The ABC Christmas Parade is taped during that timeframe and the Pop Warner Cheerleading and Football groups are also there during that time frame and those dates have been blocked out for discounts the last two years also. The third week, around December 14 - 21, is actually probably the slowest time frame in December now. The crazy Christmas crowds won't start rolling until the 21st and there are discounts offered during those dates also.
