We temporally had our planning session for the day after Thanksgiving (when my parents are coming to visit us in FL) and we just found out today that our planner is on vacation that week. So our options are to have the session, but my mother cannot attend or have another planner run the session. He is on vacation the entire week so my mother would have to stay a few additional days in order to make it to the session and it's too hard for her to take off work, but I would really hate to not meet with my planner at all. Do the planners come to the actual wedding? Ken Weaver is my actual planner and I have heard great things about him, but have only actually spoken to his assistant, will I ever be able to actually work with him? What would you do?

If it's more important to you to do it when your mother is in town I don't think it would be a horrible thing to have another planner run the session. There are some Brides that only have phone planning sessions and their weddings still turn out fabulous!

Ken Weaver is also my planner, and he is wonderful. We had our planning session in March with Ken, and all he really did was write down everything we said with his trusty red pen, as he calls it... then he goes back to the office and enters into his comp to make your BEO. So either way they will have to go over it..
I don't think it would be a problem to work with another planner, you just won't get to meet Ken until your wedding. All they would have to do was take notes, and then go back over them when he get home from vacation.

If you want to meet Ken for you planning session, then you'll have to go without your mom. I left DF at home for ours and it was no big deal. Me and my mom went because we couldn't work out a day for the three of us.
It's completely up to you though. You will love Ken once you do meet him! And his assistant, Linda, is just as amazing! Although, you never get the chance to meet her.. she does a great job with any questions you may have.
Hope that helps. let me know if you need anything else!
