I kinda planned to visit Disneyland during its fall season to avoid the hot weather in Australia leading up to Summer but now its hotter there than it is here and today is quite hot!! I do have 9 days at DL and the 2nd week is looking more manageable. I am really excited to get stuck into everything DL has to offer since it has been 10 years since my last visit to Socal DL, but I don't like high heat and I have that kind of fair skin that burns extremely easy even on overcast days!!

What time of the day does it usually reach its peak there? Are early mornings more manageable and say early afternoon when it becomes intolerable? How would you plan your day to make it the most enjoyable despite the heat? Does it cool down nicely for the evenings?

Our first week we will be at VGC, so we will have some nice pools to enjoy during the afternoons.

Would you do some rides & characters early morning, say from EE til lunch time, then some sort of inside show followed by a rest and swim, come back in the evening when it cools down?

Yes! That's what we did each day when we were there last month and it was super hot and crowded! We got a lot done in the morning each day. We would have a nice lunch and then head back to the hotel to swim and rest.

Great plan!!

Yes, you have it figured out. Thankfully you will have plenty of time, so no need to worry about missing things just to stay shaded and cool. Hitting rides in the morning is a good touring plan anyways, but especially so when it's blazing outside. It gets very hot around noon-1pm so at that time enjoy shows, animation academy, shopping, resting back at the hotel and enjoying the pool. A long air conditioned lunch might be nice. When it starts to cool off in the later afternoon, you can head back to the parks and have more options without seeking out a/c and shade.

As always, hats, glasses, sunblock, and plenty of water is a good idea.

The heat is starting to taper off, bit of humidity tho. Looks like November will be cooler.

Great advice thanks!! Good to know I'm on the right track. Shopping, that's a good thought, can't wait to sift through all the goodies, hopefully find me some nice Alice in Wonderland goodies!!
