OUR CHRISTMAS

I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas! It's so hard to believe it's over. I felt like Christmas really snuck up on me this year - and then it's finished so quickly!

One thing I did manage to get done early this year was my decorating. I normally decorate the weekend after Thanksgiving, but since we were on our trip and I didn't want to put off the decorating until the following weekend, I did it before Thanksgiving! I meant to post these pictures a while back, but I guess this is an appropriate time!

I put up two trees - one in my den and one in the living/dining room - each of which is "themed" around the color of the decor in the room that they are in. The wrapping paper has to match too, of course!

Here's the den tree

I also got a nice surprise this year and I won the "best in show" award for the best outside Christmas decor in my neighborhood. Sadly, I haven't even gotten around to taking a picture of the decor, but here's the Santa I've got to display.

Anyway, on to Christmas!

My Christmas started Wednesday afternoon when my office closed at noon so we could have our holiday luncheon. I received a very nice Christmas bonus and a raise for next year, so it was a great way to start the holiday! My father also came in to town from Florida Wednesday, and we all spent Thursday and Friday afternoon prepping for Christmas!

Christmas Eve is when I celebrate with my father and his parents. We start off the night going to the candlelight service at church. Here's Miguel before we left.

After church, Miguel and I gathered up all of the presents to take next door to my grandparent's house.

Then, we enjoyed our traditional Christmas Eve dinner of lasagna and poppers!

The poppers always seem to have crowns inside!

Next up was presents, of course!

I got so many beautiful things, some of which were a new Coach purse, a pair of Stuart Weitzman boots, a bookcase for my guest bedroom, and an oil panting of a picture that I took in Italy.

Miguel's "big" gifts from my grandparents were an iphone stereo

And a Movado watch from my father!

Afterward, we posed for some pictures before heading home to rest up for Christmas day!

On Christmas morning, Miguel and I exchanged our presents to each other.

I got Miguel some clothes, pajamas, belts, cologne, a Flip video camera, and this - which I am so excited to play!

Miguel gave me lots of pretty jewelry, some shirts and pants for work, a pair of brown boots, and some scarves.

Afterwards, we headed back over to my grandparents for another round of presents!

Miguel got a ton of new shirts and I got and iPad!

The rest of the day I visited with my mother and her parents while Miguel visited with his twin brother and cousin. Later that night, I went back over to my grandparent's house for the big family Christmas dinner. We got quite a shock here in Atlanta because it ended up snowing on Christmas! Apparently, it's the first white Christmas we've had since the 1800's! It was really beautiful to watch the snow fall out the window while enjoying our dinner together.

Needless to say, it was a wonderful Christmas! Unfortunately I have to go back to work tomorrow, but at least now there's New Year's to look forward to!

Yay for AP's! I'm so excited for you! :woohoo: I feel like it opens up a world of possibilities. ;)

I was so happy to get all of the ADR's on my list. I was worried because I had so many to try for. :goodvibes

Aww, it sounds like you had such a wonderful Christmas! Your house is decorated so nicely, I love it!

Ooooh an ipad and a coach purse! Two gifts I didn't get that I would love! :) My favorite gifts were a new TV for our kitchen, a new camera (a Nikon Coolpix), and I guess this is still semi-considered a xmas gift (we returned something and exchanged it) a new Keurig coffee maker! :)

It sounds like you had a great Christmas. Being from Western NY, it was refreshing to have a White Christmas. I am still amazed at how many things shut down here with the slightest mention of snow! Also your trees were beautiful! Happy New Year!

All caught up on your last few posts! It looks like you had a wonderful Christmas. You received so many great gifts. I was hoping for some snow on Christmas day instead of tonight, but we didn't get any.

Also, congrats on the ADRs! Isn't it great when everything works out how you planned? Your trip is going to be here before you know it!

Sounds like you had a wonderful christmas!!!!! My dad's twin sister is from around atlanta, georgia and her flight here was delayed because of the snow, and she brought pictures...Can't believe how much snow fell!!! So cool!!!!

We have the TS Midway Mania game and LOVE IT!!!! It's a lot of fun! (not like at the real game with the 4D effects, but still tons of fun!)

Aww, what a fun Christmas! I love your den tree-- the presents wrapped underneath it are gorgeous! I still can't believe that the South had a white Christmas-- none for us up in New York (it was made up for yesterday and today, though-- can't leave the house!). Seems like Santa was definitely good to you, as well! I love Stuart Weitzman shoes!
Congrats on your raise and bonus, as well!

6 MONTHS TO GO - ADR'S!

Hi everyone! I'm so sorry for my sporadic posting and replying lately (both here and on the TR). Work has been crazy. We're nearing the end of the implementation of a new expense system so there have been some very long hours required! Last week was also my last week of the semester so I of course had finals and projects. Thankfully I have a break for a month so I should be able to spend some more time around here! :goodvibes

So, today we are exactly 6 months until the disneymoon! We are so excited! :woohoo: And of course, the thing on any DISer's mind at the 6 month mark is ADR's!

Our ADR day is the 21st (Tuesday), and I think I finally have my final list put together. There are two days where I'm debating between two plans, so please give me your opinions!

Here's what I'm hoping to get Tuesday morning:
Sunday, June 19th
‘Ohana 8:00 pm

Monday, June 20th
Crystal Palace 8:00 am
Sci-Fi 7:30 pm

Tuesday, June 21st
Rose & Crown/Chefs? 12:00 pm
T-Rex 7:30 pm

* Here's one I'm debating. I'm not sure if I'd like to do R&C or Chefs for lunch. I'm currently leaning towards Chefs, but that changes pretty frequently! The menu at Chefs is more appealing, but I'm also worried that it might be a little heavy. I'd love to sit on the patio at R&C, though. :confused3

Wednesday, June 22nd
Narcoosees 8:00 pm

Thursday, June 23rd
Yak & Yeti 12:00 pm

Friday, June 24th
Liberty Tree Tavern 1:00 pm

Saturday, June 25th
Cape May Café 7:30 pm

Sunday, June 26th
Chef M’s/1900 PF 7:45 am
Mama Melrose (F!) 4:00 pm

* For this breakfast, I'm debating between Chef Mickey's and 1900 PF. Either would be a prefect location since we'd need a pretty early ADR to make it to DHS for rope drop, and a monorail resort would make it really simple. We went to CM's for dinner once and didn't like it, although I've heard breakfast is better. I'd like to try 1900 PF, but is it going to be too much for a character repeat after the Crystal Palace? :confused3

Monday, June 27th
Teppan Edo 8:30 pm

Tuesday, June 28th
Akershus 8:30 pm
La Hacienda 7:30 pm

Wednesday, June 29th
Cali Grill 6:30 pm

Thursday, June 30th
‘OHana 9:30 am

I hope I manage to get everything I want! Let me know what you think! :goodvibes

We love Teppan Edo, sadly when we all went last year it was mixed. Me, Scott, and DD loved it as did my Dad and Uncle, but the rest of the girls and little ones didnt care for it, but its one of our favs so we're doing it again in Aug! We are also doing Ohana's for breakfast I think. Still working on our ADR list. We have done CMs for breakfast and we really enjoyed it. Never did 1900 PF for breakfast, but did for dinner and it was great, one of our musts every year.

I just caught up with your PTR and hope you had a nice Christmas, your pics are very nice!

It was a very nice Christmas! I get very into the decorating! :goodvibes

Ooohhh, how do you like the Keurig? I'm going to be doing my registry for the wedding soon and that's one of the things I'm thinking about. It seems like everyone has one but me!

Thank you! And happy New Year to you! :goodvibes

It is pretty funny when it snows here - people freak out! :lmao:

I was very spoiled this year, for sure! And then we had snow to top it off! It was so special to have a white Christmas. :cloud9:

I was so surprised by the snow. It rarely ever snows here, especially in December. It just made Christmas that much more special. :cloud9:

We just opened up TSM last night! It was so much fun - and tiring too! :lmao:

Congrats on your raise and bonus, as well!

Thank you! I work very hard on the wrapping!

Stuart Weitzman shoes are the best. My father gave me my first pair probably 6 years ago and I literally wear them everyday to work. Well, that was until I broke the heel off climbing up my yard during our first ice of the winter. :sad2: I was in need of a new pair!

I'm a little on the fence about Teppan Edo. I really want to try it out, but my plans for that day have us relaxing by the pool all day. I would prefer to keep with the go with the flow theme of the day and maybe just do dinner at DTD, but it was the only night I could fit in TE. We'll see if we end up keeping it. :confused3

Your christmas decor is beautiful. I loved your themed tress and the wrapping paper to go with them. Also congrats on the best in show award. I am sure your decorations were great. It really looks like you and Miguel had a wonderful Christmas. We got a little snow in Jacksonville, which is the first time since 1989. So we were deff. Excited.

2010 - A YEAR IN REVIEW

Happy New Year everyone! Can you believe it’s 2011?! This year flew by for me – it literally seems like yesterday that Miguel and I were welcoming in 2010 and adjusting to being an engaged couple. And now, we can officially say we’re getting married this year!

2010 was a busy and exciting year for us. As I said, we started off the year newly-engaged. We began by celebrating by spending a week at the beautiful AKL at Disney!

In January, I also started taking classes for my master’s degree (in business admnistration) while I finished classes for my bachelor’s. My school offers a combined BBA/MBA program, so I was able to start the graduate classes before fully completing the undergraduate.

In March, we finally started on some wedding planning. First thing was to secure our venue, followed by a cake tasting and meeting with the florist.

In May, I officially completed the requirements for my bachelor’s degree in business administration, and I celebrated by getting my first “big girl” job. I was very lucky in that I only job-searched for about a month before finding an awesome job working in the accounting department of a large law firm.

Throughout the summer, Miguel and I went on some fun outings as we played “tourists” in our city and a neighboring one! In Atlanta we went to The World of Coca-Cola and Zoo-Atlanta.

We also took the time to drive up to Chatanooga, TN to visit the Tennessee aquarium.

In August, I packed my bags and jetted off to Italy with my family. We spent a wonderful week and a half exploring Venice, Florence and the Tuscan region, Naples, Pompeii and Rome.

September brought Miguel’s birthday!

I also got a present – a new car!

In October, I finally went dress shopping after 10 months of being engaged! It only took two shopping trips to find the dress of my dreams. Getting this big check taken care of definitely made the wedding seem more real!

November was all about preparing for the holidays and our short trip to Disney after Thanksgiving!

In December, I finally booked our room at the Poly for our disneymoon and made our ADR’s!

And of course, we eneded the year with an absolutely wonderful Christmas and a low-key New Year’s.

Overall, 2010 was a wonderful year. It was busy, but it was filled with many wonderful memories and lots of preparation for what is to come. And speaking of the future, I cannot wait to experience all that 2011 has in store for Miguel and I - I have a feeling it's going to be a very good year!!!

What a wonderful year you two have had! I think you're right...2011 will bring great things for you!

I have to tell you... I got engaged last night! I am so excited and can't wait to begin the whole process :)
