Hi everyone! Today my husband asked me to "price out" a possible trip to Disneyland for my 30th birthday this october. I couldn't beleive it - i was stoked :cool1:! I have a few questions before i present my findings....

1. I'm thinking of getting there Thursday October 11th and heading home Sunday October 14th. Do those dates sound ok? I'm not realy familisr with october crowds, as we usually go in December.

2. I've priced out a couple of hotels across the street, it's looking like Tropicana or Best Western Plus are the best deals. I've never stayed at either of those, any thoughts? Are they on par with the rest of the places on Harbor?

3. We aren't really interested in doing Mickey's Halloween Party, and there is one on the Friday night we plan on being there. Has there been any mention of California Adventure staying open later on the evenings of the Halloween parties?

Thanks so much in advance for any help or insight you can give!

I have stayed at the tropicana many times. But the free breakfast if just danish and juice, the rooms are on the small size, the hot tub is hot and it is an easy walk to disneyland.:lovestruc

Im not going to say its going to be overly crowded but usually the entire month of Oct. has a lot of people there...mostly because of the Halloween Parties and because you are going during a weekend, also, so cal select passes arent blocked out on friday but they are the rest of that weekend... so cal is only blocked on saturday not on fri or sun and deluxe is open all weekend...and also, weekends get pretty sticky ...I still think you will be ok though

If I had to pick between BWP and Tropicana I would pick BWP...although Tropicana is a decent basic motel so either way you will be fine

yes ::yes:: DCA will be open but keep in mind there will be a lot of people just like you who arent doing the party so they will all be going to the same place you are

I am figuring it will be fairly busy the whole time we are there, which is ok. My thinking is that Thursday will be managable enough so that we can get a good bit done.

I'm really glad DCA will be open during the party - we were just there in May (another reason the crowds aren't really a huge factor this time since we were literally just there, lol) and on the grad nights it was kind of a bummer not to have anywhere else to go.

Thanks for the advice :goodvibes

I 'm sort of luke warm on the Tropicana's. The room we had there was updated clean and nice but small, kept the stroller in the van it was so tight. Also some of the rooms have showers only. Pool is in the parking lot and not a lot of foliage to disguise that, but served its purpose. They charge for wifi and parking so keep that in mind and breakfast started pretty late in the morning if I recall so we couldn't 't utilize while getting to park early. The staff was nice enough and the location is great, but so are all of the other motels on harbor. I guess we didn't 't have a bad stay but its not somewhere I 'd stay again or recommend highly.

That sounds underwhelming, lol. Thanks for the heads up. I think we will probably go with the Best Western Anaheim Inn, it's 411 for 3 nights if we pay in full online.

That 's funny, we 're staying at BW Anahiem Inn on our next trip too! We like the Ramada MG but not loving the prices they want this fall.

We ran into the same issue with our usual hotel, PVI. It's over 100 more there the dates we want to go, that's just too much for us for a 2nd trip of the year.
