Hello everybody!!
Im a newby who this year purchased membership of DVC with my home resort at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I'm now starting to plan for next year's trip and any tips would be greatly appreciated. We are thinking of doing a couple of resorts as we have extra points courtesy of Mickey. Was thinking a week definately at our home resort and then either a week at another resort or splitting the week into 2 resorts. So any tips anyone on what we should do and guidance on where to get best deals for flights. We are a Virgin credit card holder with miles so wondered if anyone had used this to assist with USA flights.
Thanks everyone!!!

Hi  (I'm sneaking a peek at the boards in my lunchbreak at work, so just a quick reply)

We always do split stays because we enjoy getting a different experience from the various resorts - just be aware of (and plan for accordingly) the changeover days when you've left one resort and might not have access to a room until later in the day in the new resort.

We've quite often saved some £ by using our Virgin miles to get Miles plus Money flights. Not always a lot cheaper than the normal fare, but it all helps! The best advice I can give is to keep checking flight prices for your dates (with many airlines and brokers) so that you get a feel for what you're likely to have to pay, then be ready to bite as soon as you see a price you're happy with.

We usually book a DVC room as early as possible and then switch that around, if necessary, once we have flights booked. Watch out for banking/borrowing restrictions if you plan to do this, though.

Have fun with your planning! :)

First and foremost, Welcome Home neighbour :goodvibes

Depending on your plans I would recommend booking all of your time at AKV at the 11 month window then switching the reservation at 7 months. In my opinion your best way to do this would be:
Book your preferred room & view for the part you're planning to stay at AKV as one reservation.
Book a second reservation for the period you are planning to swap out.

This has a couple of advantages, firstly you won't get stuck without a reservation and secondly means there's no rebooking of the portion of the time you're planning to actually spend at AKV.

It's a truly wonderful resort and I suspect your first visit will only confirm what a good decision you have made :yay:
