Hey everyone! Okay, well my husband and I had to delay our honeymoon because of our work and class schedules, so were taking it this May to Walt Disney World, and will most likely be staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge there with a view of the Savannah! Were both super psyched about it but since it's a bit after the wedding I'm trying to think of things to make it seem a bit different than a normal vacation so it stands out more.

Now heres my problem: I want to plan a surprise for him while there, since he's only been there twice in his life. I already asked about restaurants under that board, so what I'm looking for is anything but dinning options. In fact, were both pretty sportsy, and he loves light shows, which are aplenty down there. I was thinking of perhaps planning some parasailing while there, but was wondering if anyone else had any creative ideas? Any would be appreciated so thank you so much in advance. I dont know if this would help people think of anything, but the only two resorts he seems to be looking at (I'm letting him pick it) are the CBR and the AKL, but he seems to be leaning towards the AKL right now. :earboy2:

Have you thought about one of the specialty cruises? We did the Wishes fireworks cruise this past November and thought that it was very romantic. Actually, we both agreed it was one of the best parts of our trip!

A fireworks speciality cruise is an excellent idea. We did Illuminations a few weeks ago and the view from the boat was incredible. You can also set up with private dining to have something on board. Perhaps a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. It was a great experience and we'd definitely do it again.

Cirque Du Soleil is a great show if you haven't seen that before.

Fort Wilderness has horseback riding. The Contemporary has your parasailing, tubing, waterskiing and wakeboarding. Learn to surf at Typhoon Lagoon and the Richard Petty driving experience are just a few other options.

You mentioned the AKL and if he likes animals, there are some behind the scenes tours that are great. The AK offers a Backstage Safari. DH and I did this one last January and it was fantastic. Our DD did the AquaSeas tour a few weeks ago and she got to scuba dive (no certification necessary) in the LivingSeas tank at Epcot.

I'm not sure if it's out of your price range, but the AKL has an amazing concierge lounge. They also offer their concierge guests an opportunity to book a private sunrise safari, complete with breakfast, or a sunset safari, with dinner at Jiko's. If you follow this link to another DIS boards thread, and look at post #9, you'll see more information about this AKL Link .

Does he like fishing at all? You could do a fishing cruise. DH and I did one on our honeymoon. We did the 7am one from the Boardwalk and you go into the middle of World Showcase Lagoon. I don't fish, but it was really nice, relaxing 2 hrs. We also did the Illuminations cruise which was great too.

Congratulations! DH and I just loved AKL. We thought it was very romantic. I would suggest a couples massage (you can have them come to your room for a little extra $) and then the in-room Sunset Dining package. I think you can find a menu of spa services at relaxedyet.com. Room service will come and set up dinner on your balcony - when we did it it cost about $75 and that includes salad, main course, dessert, beverages, and a bottle of wine. I don't remember if that includes tip and taxes or not. I'm pretty sure you can find information at allearsnet.com. That evening was one of our most special we've ever had on a vacation. Just perfect!

I surprised my girlfriend on her birthday with a side trip to Discovery Cove. A day of snorkeling and playing with dolphins was terrific.
