Hi

We are all getting really excited now, less than three months to go!

Being first-timers we would be grateful for some help.

We've already got 30 day Fun in the Sun passes and booked a day at Discovery Cove.

Now we need help with the priority seating. There are tips in Simon's Brits Guide to book Fantasmic dinner packages for the Hollywood Brown Derby or Mama Melrose's so you get VIP seating for the show but am I right in thinking you can also book the same package at Hollywood and Vine?

Should I book these PS up before we go or will it be OK to leave it until we get there?

What happens if you book a PS in advance and can't make it (ie. one of the kids is sick..."touch wood" it doesn't happen)...do you just lose a deposit or something?

Do you also advise booking the PS for the character meals in advance or leaving it until we get there?

Any help would be gratefully received!!!

Elaine

Hi Elaine!

It's rather late at night but I think 87 days will take us to beginning of April? The closer you get to the Easter holiday, the wiser it would be to make your Priority Seating requests in advance.

As far as the Fantasmic Dinner Package goes, you will need to give CC info as a guarantee and would need to cancel before 48 hours ahead of the package to avoid penalty. Yes, the Hollywood and Vine are included and I think a good choice :)

You should book your character meals asap - which ones are you interested in?

With 90 days and 2 minutes to go I rang and made a PS for CRT. We then re-rang with 78 days to go for a character breakfast at Chef Mickeys. We needed a CC to pay a deposit for CRT, no CC was taken for CM.

I would recommend PS's now. You know you have plenty of access to the parks with the pass you have purchased so, even if you find the day chosen for a Fantasmic dinner is a rest day when you are there, you can still just 'pop' over to MGM for the dinner and show.

We have bought these passes too (on a whim as we were going to get 7 day hoppers pluses). They are such good value.

BTW is Fantasmic to scary for a 7 year old?

No, I wouldn't say so. I've never seen any age child get scared at Fantasmic.

Hi

I had a PS for the Fantasmic Dinner Package in Oct 2003, Hollywood & Vine and would thoroughly recommend it - the food was excellent and somuch choice.

My DS7 had a great time at Fantasmic and loved the show so much that he wanted to go back the next night.

Helen:tongue:

We did the Fantasmic package at Hollywood & Vine last August. Would def recommend it & would go again.

The food was an as much as you can eat buffet & was excellent. My kids aged 11, 12 & 2x 16 were very impressed.

We actually booked the day we were in the park, but that does limit your choice.

When we went in 2001 we did the package at Mama Melrose & we did enjoy that too. But H& V was much better value. Also I think now it is just alimited menu at MM for the package.

My advise is if going for the package have a good breakfast & don't eat lunch, you don't need it.

I have to agree with Sue. We did the dinner package at H&V back in April 2003. Although we did a PS about 2 months in advance, we had a last minute change to our travel date and so had to change the booking about 48 hours before our original booking. They change it - with no problem whatsoever. DS (aged 14) and DH (a bit older ;) ) loved the food. In fact, we all enjoyed it so much we actually ate there again a few nights later.

Here's is a link to the menu

Although it says that the menu changes daily, this looks exactly like the menu on both occasions we were there back in April.

You've reminded me - I need to make our PS for 3 months' time!

Thanks everyone!

We've decided to book a P.S. for the Hollywood & Vine Fantasmic package and to choose a character breakfast and book that too.
We also thought we'd book a P.S. for the Rose & Crown for the Illuminations at Epcot.

That's the easy bit, it's working out when to plan it for that's the hard bit!!! I keep finding it a bit overwhelming so I keep putting it off!!!

Julie, where are you flying from? We're also going March 31st from Gatwick with Virgin.

Elaine

Elaine,

We are flying from Manchester on US Airways via Philadelphia. You'll get there quicker than us!

How long are you going for? We travel back on Friday 16th.

Julie

Lucky you, you get two more days than us!!! We're flying back on Wednesday 14th.

Have a great time! You never know, you might spot us - DH & I with big grins on our faces, and DS (Kevin the teenager!) dragging along behind us, pretending he's not with us!
