I am facing difficulty in planning a Dec. 2010 trip.

I have rented points previously for BCV, OKW, & AKL, so I'm familiar with the procedures. And apparently waiting until March/April is what has killed my plan. :confused3

I was trying to rent DVC for Thurs Dec. 9 through Sun Dec. 12 (3 nights) prior to the Disney cruise leaving on Dec. 12. I have gone through studio requests for BLT, BCV, & BWV. I'm shocked (& maybe shouldn't be) that all of the responses have come back "unavailable". :sad1:

This trip is for my mom who loves visiting during the holidays. I know the following week will only be busier because of Christmas, etc. I can't move it to the week prior, as I have a work obligation. And any earlier than that gets into Thanksgiving. Going to January has to get around work and the drastic increase in price with the Disney Dream.

Thoughts on availability at WLV, even though it's not a preference for us? As we have a very short time on land, I hesitate to request SSR or OKW since they are far away from MK & EP & from restaurtants we love, like Le Cellier, Trails End, Beaches & Cream, etc. What are your thoughts on what we should do?

Feeling very bad that this will be less of a trip for my mom than I'd hoped for.

VWL is most likely completely booked too- if you want to go with DVC you will have to settle for SSR or OKW- your other choice is to book through Disney or book the Swan/Dolphin for that area.

Wow, I am booked Dec 8 -13 at SSR and was hoping to get in at BWV or BCV at the 7 month mark. I thought I might be able to sneak in but I guess I'm out of luck.

Take what you can get now for Dec 9 - 12 even if that means OKW & SSR, at least (hopefully) you'll have something reserved and your odds of that are better right now because you'd still be ahead of 7 month window opening. Then on May 9 you can see if it is possible to switch the reservation over to one of the other resorts you'd prefer, or waitlist; availability changes from day to day so you never know, you may be able to get what you are hoping for but December is a popular travel time.

btw, OKW & SSR are not as inconvenient as you may be thinking since buses from each resort go directly to parks & from DTD you can get a bus to any resort; for Ft.Wilderness Resort take bus from DTD or take bus from resort to MK & then boat to FWR; for Beaches & Cream probably easiest to take bus from resort to Studios & then boat or walk to B&C or to Epcot and then exit at Int'l Gateway & walk over to B&C.

Good luck with your plans :goodvibes

yep - all of the period from thanksgiving week through new years is peak season for DVC... owners usually try to book at 11 months to reserve a spot...

I agree with an earlier poster - give Dolphin / Swan a try. It is a wonderful location and they have a great pool complex.

Otherwise, I would say to secure a rental at any available resort and ask your owner to wait list you for your top pick.

Good luck.

Good news! I paid a little more, but was able to secure a preferred view at BWV! I've never actually stayed there & was initially a bit disappointed (especially about not getting BLT), but I'm jumping right in to learn all I can about it! Am happy to still be near my fave, BC, and relieved that we have someplace to sleep!

Now, how will we keep ourselves away from the blasted Bakery?!

Thanks for the advice!
