I'm meeting my son in WDW next February I'm in Canada, he's coming from California. I like a separate sleeping space for me, but couldn't afford a BW view one bed, but I managed to get a BW view studio, and a standard studio with my points. It occurred to me that there could be some problems with planning fp+, ME and dining reservations. I always had my kids on the same reservation before. I didn't really think this through when I booked, I was just so happy to get 2 studios, borrowed points, can't cancel now -April UY. I may be overthinking this, but isn't that what you do with a Disney vacation?

As long as he's linked to you in MDE and is listed on a resort reservation that's also linked to MDE, you shouldn't have any problems at all making ADRs or FP or booking ME for him.

So he'll have to open his on MDE account. Then give me permission to plan. Okay. One bonus I thought of is we can share one QS dining plan, and pay for other meals out of pocket or with gift cards. I do like the dining plan, but its something of a chore trying to get best value. I guess I'm still getting used to the kids being grown up and independent.
Thank you.

I'm not completely certain that he needs his own MDE account - you might post this question on the Theme Parks board and get those MDE experts' opinions! But I think that if he is listed on a room reservation for which you have a confirmation number, you can link that confirmation number in MDE just the same as you link your own, and then the system will know that he has an onsite reservation for those given dates and will let you book FPs as long as he has valid tickets in MDE too -- and those would be or already are linked to him in your MDE, right? You manage him, right? I don't think you're restricted to entering only one resort reservation confirmation number in MDE.

ADRs don't matter - as long as you have a linked reservation, you can book ADRs at 180 days plus length of stay, and the other guests don't even have to be listed, much less have an onsite reservation. And re dining plan, if you are in separate rooms then those two rooms can be different in regard to having/not having the dining plan. Your room can have it, his doesn't have to.

You absolutely can link his reservation to your MDE account, and manage FPes (etc) for both of you. I do this regularly--2-3 times/year, for more than 10 years...At least 75% of my trips involved two villas--one for me and one for the guests I'm bringing. And I pretty much refuse to let my guests use their own MDE accounts (if they want to do stuff w/me, anyway) as the link-up's between accounts ALWAYS result in (significant) problems...just so much easier to just have everyone on one acc't. (I don't insist that it be my acc't...I'm happy to let them add me to theirs and one family I take regularly does use this option--but most of my guests are infrequent Disney visitors and they're very happy to have me do the planning for them)...
