Is there anything like "Jersey Week" in January...any big events, groups, competitions that effect January crowds? I know about the marathon; am thinking about sched. for end of month. Thanks. :3dglasses

Other than the marathon mentioned on the DIS events page, you've got MLK weekend and Lotus Sphere happening in January.

Lotus Sphere is a weeklong convention at the end of the month. I think it's mostly at the Swan, Dolphin, and other Epcot resorts. I doubt it affects park attendance as much as it does restaurants and bars.

We went the last week in January last year and it was great. Very low crowds and we had nice weather. This year we're going the first week in Feb. and are hoping for the same.

Hi:
The only thing you have to watch in January is the number of attractions that are down for re-hab during the month. I know Splash Mt. will be closed for most of the month & RRC is also down part of the time.

WHAT is Lotus Sphere? I've not heard of it?
Me neither so I "googled" it. Apparently, it is a group of people interested in the Lotus software from IBM. Their 2007 conference is scheduled for January 21-25 and will take place at the Swan/Dolphin and YC/BC Convention Centers. Conferees are getting discounts if they stay at Swan/Dolphin, YC, BC, POR, CB & All Star Sports

I don't think they will noticably impact the parks or the DVC resorts very much.

Best wishes -

We took our first trip home 1/08/06 to 1/18/06 it was great. We had shorts on during the day and jeans at night. The only time we had trouble with crowds was on Sunday of MLK weekend and that was trying to find somewhere to eat without ADR they had a jumprope and cheerleading comp. going on in the sports complex..Just check out park hours and parades but we had a wonderful time could still swim and did not have to wait in any long lines. I am going to miss not being able to go for a week when the kids are older and can't miss school. We are going back this Jan 10 to 17th we loved it that much
Enjoy

2 years ago at the end of January it was cold, long pants and sweatshirt every day.

Has the RRC closure been confirmed? This is the first I've heard. Do you know what dates in January it will be closed? My kids will be very upset to hear that Spash and RRC will be closed while we are there, two of their favorite rides.

I asked about Rockin' Roller Coaster being rehab'd in another thread and was told it was NOT closing in January. Let's not overlook the fact that allearsnet. posts scheduled rehabs and it's not listed. Yay!

Thanks! I'm glad to hear that. I realize it's off season, but I'd hate to think they would close 2 major rides during the same period.
