Planning first trip for to DL what do we need to know?

We have been to DW for the last eight years. We are planning a trip to CA in Dec. to DL and Legoland. We are staying in a good neighbor hotel and renting a car.

What stratgies do we need for the parks? Where do we need to go first? We are going Dec. 10-13 so I am hoping for lower crowds.

What are the "not to miss" things?

What is the best plan for Cars Land?

For CL, RSR fills up fast. Get there early for FPs, or for standby, or use Single Ride Line. If you are the type to arrive at rope drop, visit DCA on non-EMH days and same thing for DL.
