Planning Far In Advance (like 2012)?

We started planning our next trip 19 months in advance and the trip before was 18 months in advance. As long as I know tht I have a trip in the making I am happy!:cool1: We are now 6 months away, 183 days to be exact and the time is flying!! I AM SO EXCITED!:lovestruc

We go every other Thanksgiving so after our trip in 2 weeks, I will be planning for November 2012. If I don't start planning and dreaming of the next trip I miss it too much. I am also planning a short stay in May 2012 just me and my DD16, she will be graduating (this is her last trip with us for a while) so just the 2 of us are going to go for a special trip for Grad Nights. DH says he wants me to be able to do this with all 3 girls and I loved the idea so I am starting to think about that.

Never too early to start dreaming and planning!

I always plan two years in advance because it usually takes me that long to save up for the trip.:goodvibes I plan to take my son and his friend on a cruise (Dream or Fantasy, not sure which) for their high school graduation, but I am also planning to surprise them with a couple days at the parks before the cruise.

I guess that's typical behavior with Disney fanatics... as soon as we are done with the current vacation, we go into planning mode for the next! That's not really a bad thing is it???:lmao:

Our original plan was for January 2012, but my youngest DS decided that he really, really didn't want to be there on his birthday. (He thinks it will be too hard on family members to get him birthday presents.) Now we are looking at either November or Decmeber. If we go in November, it will be around the 10-18th and we will be there for my oldest's DS's 15th birthday. If we go in December it will be around the 8th-16th. Although I am really leaning toward November. I know where I would like to stay, but we'll have to wait and see what the budget allows for. Depending on that budget we will either stay at the CR - MK view, WL, CSR, or the new Art of Animation resort. We would like to get the DlxDDP, but again that is something we will have to wait and see if it's in the budget.

My husband and I are planning for a Fall 2012 Trip. We are going to celebrate a whole host of things so we need start saving and planning now. We have a few ideas but I like planning early because we can make alot of changes.:)

But I am ready to go back I haven't been since 2007 and this will be my husband's first trip ever!

Hi,

I am glad I found this thread. I am planning for either April, June or August of 2012.
We were there this past Sept. and I can't wait to go back.
I didn't tell my husband because he thinks I am crazy. I started thinking about where I want to stay and I decided POR hopefully by then a lot of the renovations will be done. I think I might plan a small cruise in with this. It makes me happy to know that I have something to look forward too.

Happy Planning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes

We are looking at April 2012. Since our first trip in Oct. 2007, we've been back twice -- we seem to have fallen into an every-18-months routine. We went the beginning of November this year and as we were leaving, dh told me to start planning a 35th anniversary trip in April 2012. He didn't get much argument from me since I had already started planning that trip in my head when we got back from our April 2009 trip. This November's trip was an unexpected bonus, a last wish so-to-speak from my dying mother-in-law.

So, I am looking at April 2012, probably the last two weeks of the month. But if I see that crowds don't look too good for that time of the month, then I think I will bump everything up a week and do the last week of April and the first week of May.

I save the remains of each week's allowance in a Disney-designated envelope. We returned from our November trip on the 13th and the first deposit in the envelope was made on the 19th. Let the fun begin! :cool1:

We are also doing a Grand Gathering in 2012...now I feel behind! But we are planning a cruise on the Dream next year, so first things first, right? :rotfl:

Actually, next year's trip is going to be non-commando, fun fun fun. Then, the serious planning will begin! Can't wait!

I am planning on going in 2012. Either with my sister and other family members in Jan. 2012 or waiting and going solo in Dec. 2012. :goodvibes

It depends on how my 91 year old mother is doing.
My sister just became a DVC member and said I could use her left over points and she would stay with Mom if I'm not able to go with them. I've never done a solo trip to WDW before, but I did go to Disneyland a few years ago and my niece met me there for a few days. So I have been researching resorts, restaurants & rides.
Usually the spontanous one I have found I have become a planner.;)

Talking to Mom yesterday and mentioned the 2012 trips coming up. She looks at me and says, I think I might want to go too. I informed my sister and she said "Why not?". So at the present it looks like I may end up taking 2 trips in 2012 as I wouldn't want to miss out on the family gathering in Jan. 2012 and I'm forward to a solo trip in Sept. 2012. :)

We are planning a Grand Gathering in Jan. 2012!!! We could have anywhere from 20 to 25 in the group. I think we are all going to try to stay at Bay Lake Tower. Right now we are just working on how many points we have to spend. My family of 5 got back from a Nov stay at BLT and we loved it! No exact dates yet, just know we do not want MLK weekend again. Much to crowed for us. It just makes me happy to know that I'm not the only one already to get excited this far out!!

We haven't really planned anything yet, but we are planning on going in January 2012 for my DH's Birthday, we've been already for mine and both of my DD's b-days and he says it is about time for him to celebrate his with the mouse (I've trained him right) :goodvibes. We are going to be staying at BLT (our home DVC resort) but as far as the dates and places to eat we haven't discussed yet (except we would like to do HDDR). We have a May trip coming up so we are focusing on that first. Once I find out which dates we are going, I will be making a ticker for it.

This is just something I'm tossing around, but DH and I already know our next big trip (after Jan) won't be until summer/fall 2012. What I'm thinking about now is maybe an Alaskan cruise (the last Sept. cruise, shoulder season) in 2012, followed immediately by a flight to Orlando and a week at WDW.

Ideally, I wanted to do WDW in late Oct/early Nov, but we really want to do Alaska, too. So, it's either do it all in 1 big trip, or in 2 smaller, 1-week trips. 2 roundtrip flights? Or 3 one-way flights?

I think we'd do Princess or Norwegian Cruise lines so that we can see Glacier Bay (so no Disney cruise), which means we'd either end up in Vancouver or Seattle. By then I'd probably have enough credit card points for at least 1 of the 3 flights we'd be taking.

Either way, I'll keep Sept/Oct/Nov 2012 as potential months for Disney.

The cost, though...better start saving now!

Sounds crazy, huh?

We had an awesome trip last month from 11/13-11/19:cloud9: Now we are planning to return May 2012(the first week). We are mixing it up & visiting Universal so we can experience Harry Potter. But we all agree we are still staying on WDW property. My 10 yr DS is requesting POR. Which might be a good idea because it is scheduled to be renovated starting Spring 2011.

Our next trips will be January 2012 for the half marathon (I think that's what it is. I'm not running in it. SIL and brother are). and September 2012. I don't think I'll really plan much though until we're 7 months out from the January trip. The January trip will probably end up being a Grand Gathering so it'll need a lot more early planning.

We are planning a Grand Gathering of around 20 people babies on up, My dad will be celebrating his 65th birthday, and it will be the first time (assuming everyone attends) that all 3 of my brothers and I will be together with our families! My SIL is a major Disney fan like myself, they have done WDW twice in the past, and countless trips to DL, I brought my kids to WDW once in 2006 and only did one day in MK, and everyone else will be first timers!!

We will be there in Summer 2012, not certain exactly when but I will be glad to take my kids there for their first visit, and of course, happy to return.
