So, I'm planning a big 40th birthday trip for myself to WDW in *, and am feeling frustrated trying to weigh my options.
Here's my dilemma:
*My ideal would be to rent points in a DVC unit, both for the space and quality of accomodations, and because I've been thinking about buying for over a year now and feel like this would be the obvious next step. I know I can tour units while there, but would prefer to stay in one and have the full experience.
*I expect that we'll be travelling with at least ** people + infant (my folks are coming), so we'd either need to rent ** or 2 regular hotel rooms. Looking at moderate resorts, as priced before discounts, it looks like that would cost us about the same amount-around $3000, assuming $10 a point.
*THis makes staying in the villa really cheaper, as we're happy to cook while on vacation and would save lots on food.
HOWEVER, if Disney comes out with a killer discount, like 4/3, or free dining, then that changes things dramatically. If all of the sudden the hotel room will cost about half the cost of the villa, I'll have a much harder time spending all 3 grand (especially since money saved can be applied towards purchase price).
A couple more details about us. We definitely like the parks, more than just being in the hotel room, but I expect we'll take things a little slower than normal due to having a baby with us this time. We like to take naps back in the room, and normally swim, though that might not be as likely in ** . My folks are very easy to travel with, so sharing with them should work fine. We've stayed at Port Orleans before and have been perfectly happy there. We will be paying cash for this vacation either way.
What would you do in my shoes?
