Planning Dilemas...

Okay, I have spent so many hours in front of this computer trying to plan my September trip.

Usually I go to the Gulf Coast and pop up to Orlando for a few days. However, this time I want to spoil myself (30th birthday.. shhh..)

My father has become a fanatical cruiser and I am tempted to try a 7 day cruise, but as the GF gets horribly ill on a channel ferry I am probably going to opt for a 3 or 4 day 'sampler' - I am sure green will be a very fetching colour for her ;)

So, after all this waffle, here are the questions :

I am prepared to spend $2500-$3000 on accommodation (hey it is my birthday - so what if it takes me until my 40th to pay it off!!!!). Where should I stay?

I want on property... I quite fancy 'hopping' between resorts. I think I'd rather have a moderate for a few days then deluxe for a couple? I don't know!? Should I really splurge on a couple of days concierge and therefore mix it with a few days value accommodation? Help!

Also, is there anywhere on site you can hire a car? I don't want/need it for the whole time, but the last few days to go shopping etc might be nice?

sounds like it'll be a great Birthday!:)

we split our last trip (honeymoon:)) with a 5 night stay at Hard Rock Hotel, then a cruise then stayed at Wilderness Lodge...it was fantastic and to be recommended:) Depends though what sort of hotel you want I suppose:) BTW the cruise was wonderful...hope you GF is ok with it!

....Im sure I've seen a car rental place on site too...perhaps someone could confirm?:)

Have fun!:Pinkbounc

Car Hire on site is available from the Dolphin hotel or from the Carcare Centre. If you use the Carcare Centre and are staying on site they will come and pick you up to collect the car and drop you off after the hire period is over. This is with National or Alamo - as they are the official car hire places of Disney.

If you want to use someone else a few others have desks at DTD hotels eg. Avis at the Hilton & Budget at the Doubletree Suites. You could use the Disney transport to DTD Marketplace and then walk to the DTD hotels it is only about 10 minutes max.

Sound like you have a fantastic birthday trip planned - enjoy the planning!

Ohh what a wonderful birthday you are going to have:D

If I had my choice for on-site accommodation for your trip it would be The Polynesian Resort and Animal Kingdom Lodge - WOW - I wish ;)

Stayed at the AKL for a couple of days last Otober - mmmm Boma...

Never been to the Poly - I like the fact its on the monorail. Although I have read a review or two that says its suffering from wear and tear...?

Loads of good reports on CBR... Port Orleans seems to be a popular choise too! Too much choice.

In hindsight I should have looked around the resorts when I was last there.

Anyone know of a site with a good comparison of the resorts?
