Planning - Anyone used Hotwire

Hi, I just want to ask anyone out there with knowledge - I keep seeing these commercials for Hotwire and want to know - have you ever used them and what are your comments good and bad on the experience.
I am just completely weary of this "blind" reservation thing. The prices are good, but I am afraid that we will get to our vacation and find that things aren't what we want or need.

I love Hotwire. I haven't used them for a hotel since they stopped having Universal hotels pop up, but I use them for rental cars all the time. I got a car through them for $200 less than what it would have cost me if I had booked online with a code.

If you are considering using them, do your research! I know biddingfortravel.com used to have info on hotwire, not sure if they still do or not (I'm sure she still has priceline info though.....). In any case, its helpful to know what the rack rate is, the ameneties each hotel offers, and what rates sites like hotelkingdom.com are offering hotels for, that way you'll have an idea of what you are bidding on.

Check out Bidding For Travel. It's a useful site(although it may be a bit difficult to understand) to placing informed bidding on websites like Priceline. What you'll find are what people are winning their bids at on certain hotels.
