So My best friend and I are trying to start to plan a trip for 2008. The reason why so early is because of the size of the group. There will be 5 adults and 6 kids ( 11, 9, 8, 7, 5, 4). We know that we want to stay at a disney resort and have a dinning plan. We can not get past that point. Any tips will help.

As a travel agent, here are some tips for the next steps. Determine what is the most important thing to you...budget, proximity, or amenities. This will help you determine which hotels to look into. Next, determine what time of year to go...take into consideration if you want longer hours and more crowds, or shorter hours and shorter crowds (note these times often have rides shut down for maintenace.) You may want to check out Birnbaums WDW book which lists what events happen at what time of year, as well as when there are the largest, average, and smallest crowds. If you want any help planning or have any questions feel free to email me personally, or write on here and I will check back.
Good luck,
Sarah

I did a similiar thing myself. While you might not be able to make reservations and such yet, you can buy your tickets now. It's a good idea, as they can raise prices twice ayear sometimes. Also, collect all the info you can and have everyone - even the kids pick the top 3 things they would like to do. Then you can find out which parks are busiest on which days and plan your schedule so you are NOT there those days! I planned for 11 people. 6 adults and 5 kids. Once we knew which parks we were visiting on which days we then could investigate interesting dining choices. A good tip is eat "lupper" around 4ish and then when you come out, everyone else is going in and the attractions are less busy. Then we would have a good snack at night. :) Our local community college offered a Disney trip planning class that helped us get everything we wanted out of it. If you have any questions you can mail me and I will try to help. :) Hoping to plan another trip for Oct 2008. This time it will be for 13 since the family grew. :) We met at Disney from Northern Illinois and the other half from Salt Lake City, Utah, so the weather felt wonderful to us. From windy and high 40's to 80 wahoo. Good luck.
