Planning a trip to London/Amsterdam

Hi All! We're planning a trip to London and Amsterdam in September. With planning a beach trip and a wedding that are all before our overseas trip we haven't done much planning. We're looking for and appreciate any and all help in planning.

When: September 14th through the 17th in London & September 17th through the 20th in Amsterdam
Who: My partner and myself
Staying at: London: Easy Hotel in Earl's Court, Amsterdam: The Bulldog

For London we already have tickets for the London Eye (scheduled for the 14th) and Tower of London (anytime ticket). I also really want to visit the Museum of London.


Amsterdam we are planning on the Anne Frank house and either the Van Gogh Museum or the Rijks Museum.

We're in need of a good I itinerary for both places. Also some advice on getting to the airport at the crack of dawn to make a 7am flight out of Heathrow.
Any other advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!

Flying at 7am? So you will need to be at Heathrow at 5am (possibly 6 if you have online checkin). I'd book a taxi for the trip as I think you'd be cutting it fine even if you used the first buses/tube trains of the day.

The transportation board said we'd have to take 2 different buses. Thought there might be a cost effective alternative to this but I'm guess no.
That's going to be one rough morning!

As you say you could take 2 buses, but if the price is more imortant than convenience then it looks like it can be done that early in the morning.

Any idea on hoiw much a taxi from earls court to heathrow would be?

Any must see's in London you can recommend?

I used an online taxi fare calculator when I needed to work out the cost of a journey and it was fairly accurate

Ive just used this one for you and it gave £47 as the price - it depends how many of you there are whether its worth it or not


You can sometimes get cheap hotels near the airport - would this be a possibility for that night?

I guess it would be a possibility to switch our last night at our hotel to their branch near the airport but I have no idea how we would get to the other branch or how we would get from the other branch to the airport, since I am pretty sure it's not near a tube station.

I've just looked at our hotel website and it looks liek they offer a cheap taxi/shuttle service to & from the airport and the airport branch of our hotel.
We're in luck!

Too funny that easy hotel is our hotel chain. This is what is says about trasnfers to and from the airport:
"Heathrow Hotel Hoppa offers a transfer service between terminals 1, 2 and 3 and the hotel for a cost of £4.00 per person each way. Tickets can be purchased at machines in the terminal or directly to the driver.
Service H8 - between 0500 and 2000 - every 30/40 minutes
Service H3 - between 2000 and 2330 - every 20/30 minutes

The hotel operates an on demand shuttle taxi service. The service operates 24 hours a day to and from all 5 terminals. The cost is £4.50 per person each way and can be booked and paid at the hotel reception. Alternatively to book a pick up from the airport, call the hotel on +44 (0) 208 897 9237."

So it looks like we will be taking the tube to the airport and then using one of those to get to the hotel and then back again the following morning. Now I just have to figure out how to change our reservation.
