We are planning a trip to the UK next year and are looking to trade our timeshare for a week in England. Can anyone recommend a timeshare that is within commuting distance of Alton Towers. Or does anyone have any other advice for me? We are coming from Canada in August with a coaster crazy 16 year old son and a typical 19 year old daughter.

ummm only advice i can offer is choose a different park :P seriously though i havent been in years but i hear they have a good selection of rides there now but ask around a bit as we may have a better offering over here. i think places like thorpe park and chessington world of adventures maybe pretty good selection wise too...

as for time shares no clue sorry. been there a few times and seen nothing close by but camp sites.

I think Alton Towers is better than Thorpe Park or Chessington. We've stayed in holiday cottages near Uttoxeter which were very nice. Look for places in the Southern part of the Peak District - there are lots to rent but I don't know anything about timeshare.

P.S. There are two hotels at A.T. so maybe you could splash out for a night or two there.

My son is a roller coaster fanatic and Alton Towers has some very famous coasters. We'll try to hit as many parks as possible but this is tops on his list.

In my opinion Alton Towers is the best theme park in the UK. We also spent an overnight stay about 3 weeks ago at the Splash Landings Hotel and the indoor water park was fantastic!

Enjoy your trip!

I agree- My daughter is a big rollar-coaster fanatic and she picks Alton Towers everytime above any other theme park, except WDW that is lol.

If it's coasters you want alton Towrs is the place to go.

They're much too big for me though!!!

I agree that Alton Towers is the best park to go to (I have had 3 days there so far this season and am staying there for 2 nights during the fireworks, so another 3 days in the park!!) I also agree if possible to stay at one of the hotels for a special treat. Like at WDW hotel guests get early entry on selected rides and they also get que jumping passes (even better than fast passes.) Both hotels are excellent and the indoor water pask is great (especially the water rollercoaster.) Plus Alton Towers have just begun to build a new ride to be opened next year. So far the nature of it is a secret though! If you are a coaster lover Alton Towers is the place to go.

If its coasters you are looking for then the best place by far is Blackpool Pleasure Beach. You dont pay for admission and simply pay for the rides you ride. Alternativly you can buy a wrist band which costs about £30 for unlimited rides. The queues are much shorter and its without doubt the best Theme park in the Uk.
Have a search on the web

I forgot to mention in my post. If you book on the internet on the official website you can often get good cheaper deals and you can pre book some of your ride times.
