Hi! I'm trying to plan a trip for my family of four - 2 adults, 2 kids ages 6 & 9 - for next October. We went to Disney for a short trip right (only visited 2 parks) just before COVID shut everything down for a chess tournament my daughter was in, and all pandemic we've been promising the kids we'd go back for a proper vacation when it was safe. With vaccines for the kids on the horizon I finally feel like I can start planning it.

My issue is that we really want a one bedroom room - we don't want to have to go to sleep when the kids do, and I cannot sleep well with my kids in the same room with me. Last time we stayed in Coronado Springs in a room with 2 beds in it and I was exhausted from not sleeping well by the end. And that was a short trip - for a week long trip I would be a zombie. I would also like to stay in at least a moderate but preferably a deluxe resort. I know this is a splurge but we don't take many expensive vacations and our kids are only this age once so we would like to do this.

The problem is that I can't seem to find any availability for one bedrooms - am I already too late to book something like this? 😩 I was wondering if the entire week was too long so I've tried searching for shorter time periods to try to do a split stay but that's not showing anything either. Am I just going to have to keep searching every day? Is is likely that things will become available? Is there a better way to do this or another option I need to consider? Is there a particular resort that has more one bedrooms that I should focus on? I'd happily do connecting rooms as well but everything says those are not guaranteed and I really don't want the stress of spending so much on a vacation and not even knowing until we got there if we'd be in a room that would work for us. What would you do?

To clarify, when you say '1 bedroom', are you talking along the lines of DVC resort 1BR, or something else? If you're looking for DVC resort 1 BR availability for 10/2022, it's too soon. The earliest members can book is 11 months out at their home resort. DVC 1BRs are quite nice - you'll have separate rooms, a kitchen, and even a washer/dryer (which can help with packing less clothes!).

I'm talking about anything that has a wall or door that will close between our bed and the kids bed that is on-site.

The DVC 1 BR would be great, especially with a washer/dryer and kitchen. I was confused about those though, I didn't think you could book them through disney unless you were a member or bought points from a member. I tried searching dates this summer though and I'm seeing some 1 BR villas available - is that what you mean? For a trip in October, when should I be looking for those to become available?

Many of the WDW deluxe resort suites are not available to book online. If you want a deluxe suite (not a DVC villa), I would suggest calling the WDW reservation line and asking if there are any suites availability for your dates. FYI, deluxe resort suites typically price out higher than DVC villas and do not include kitchens or washer/dryers, but typically include club level amenities. If you want to book a suite now and are looking more in the value or moderate range, search for Family Suites at Art of Animation or All Star Music or suites at Coronado Springs Resort. If you would like a DVC villa one-bedroom and want to book with cash through WDW (not through a DVC rental), I would start looking at the 11-month prior to checking-in mark and keep refreshing your search daily from there. If you would like a resort suite at a lower cost and don't mind staying at a Marriott-owned property (as opposed to a WDW resort), I would suggest calling the Swan/Dolphin (which is in the Epcot resort area) directly and ask to price out both 1- and 2-bedroom suites at either resort - they typically price out around the same price as a standard WDW deluxe room - I find them to be a good value.

We liked the family suites at All stars which have a private bedroom for the adults and two bathrooms which were great in the mornings to get ready.
