Hello everyone. Well the big day is less then six months away, so its time to book the hunnymoon. we have gone with the magic your way plus dining and opted for port orleans french quarter. I was wondering if anyone has any tips on some romantic ideas to make the week even more memorable. I also need some advice about "free upgrades." I have heard if you let the resort know its your hunnymoon, they sometimes offer a upgrade. Do you tell them while booking or when you arrive to check in? thanks!

Hi! Your resort doesn't really have anything they can upgrade you to, unless it's from a standard queen to a king-bed room, or maybe what they consider a preferred location (i.e. closer to the lobby/food court). No concierge or anything fancy, unfortunately. At any rate, I'd mention the honeymoon both when you book and when you check in.

Port Orleans does offer carriage rides around the beautiful grounds. They cost $35 for 25 minutes and can be booked by calling 1-407-WDW-PLAY.

:thumbsup2

get the honeymoon badges free from guest services in the parks, why not book a nice romantic meal, you could watch wishes fireworks from the beach at the grand floridian, there's loads of romantic things to do!!!

Maybe a nicer dinner would be a good way to add romance! I think wearing a nice dress always adds a little something!

not sure if this will help but you could book an appointment at the Spa at either SSR or the Grand Floridian. they have loads of different treatments to pick from - I may be buying my DH one while we're on our Disneymoon! the carriage ride sounds great -

Disney has so many special spots that are romantic - we absolutely LOVE the WL ...you could go and sit around the huge outside firepit they have one evening .. DTD is also quite the place - Cirque de Soleil is breathtaking albeit a tad expensive... dinner at Wolfgang's Cafe before or after puts a nice spin on the evening....

hope some of this helps!

LOL! i don't think i look nice in dresses....since i'm a dude! but yeas my fiance looks gorgeous in them! i am reading up on The Spirt of Aloha dinner show at the poly....has anyone done this....can you see the mk fireworks from the poly? thanks

Here's a great list from http://www.wdwinfo.com/tips_for_touring/romance.htm

Romantic Ideas at Walt Disney World

Surprise your loved one with a spa treatment, or better yet, schedule a couples massage

Dine at the California Grill and watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the observation deck

Stroll along the beach of the Polynesian and watch Wishes

Order flowers, champagne, or a unique Disney keepsake thru the Disney Florist

Walk over to the Wedding Pavilion at the Grand Floridian and reminisce about your own wedding (or planned wedding if the case may be)

It's always twilight when you dine at the San Angel Inn at Epcot's Mexico Pavilion.

Watch the cheesy horror movie clips while dining "under the stars" at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre

Relax in the outdoor jacuzzi of your Deluxe Resort or better yet, stay at a Disney Vacation Club Resort where the one/two bedroom units have the jacuzzi in your room.

Most of the resort gift shops sell more than postcards. You can often find a selection of wine that you can enjoy in your room. You can also purchase wine at the World Showcase in Epcot. (Just make sure you can open it.) Pick up some chocolates while you're at it and you're all set.

Experience a horse-drawn carriage ride

Get a souvenir photo of the two of you

Find a garden swing on the beach of the Grand Floridian or the Beach Club and sit and swing in the moonlight.

Splurge on a once-in-a-lifetime meal at Victoria & Albert's.

Enjoy a specialty cruise and watch the fireworks at the MK or Illuminations at Epcot.

Instead of using the buses or water ferry from Disney MGM Studios, walk along the water's edge to the Boardwalk.

While at the Boardwalk, act like a kid again while playing carnival games. You may be lucky and win your sweetie a stuffed toy. You can rent a Surrey Bike built for two to cap off your day.

Dance the night away at Pleasure Island

Head to Animal Kingdom Lodge for a sumptuous dinner at Jiko and then watch the animals from the viewing areas. Better yet, stay at the resort in a room overlooking the Savannah.

Order in a romantic room service meal

haha first of all, that was funny. second. congrats! third, as someone said, there really isn't much to "upgrade" to at POFQ. but still put on ALL our ressies for food, hotel, etc. etc. that it is your honeymoon, and you may or may not get perks. a lot of ppl get free desserts, but since you are on the DP, you will get desser with your meal anyway. go into it having fun andnot expecting anything extra, and then those little surprises will mean that much more!

We went to the show and it was awesome! We also did Hoop Dee Doo and a Wishes fireworks cruise for our honeymoon. We also ate at some really nice restaurants. DH said out of all the shows, dinners, and even the fireworks cruise, the luau was his favorite.

You can see the fireworks from the Poly and they have some nice hammocks and swings on the beach where you can sit/relax while watching them. I've heard the music to Wishes is piped in to the marina there, but I've never watched from there so I don't know for sure.

Congrats and happy planning!

Since you're staying at POFQ head over to Riverside one night and take the carriage ride. I believe the cost is around $35, but it is a nice quiet/relaxing trip.
