My son and his fiancee decided to move up their wedding date to March 31st. It's a good thing and they will have the first week of April for their honeymoon. I had been dreading the planning when the date was May 6th, but now that I have 5 weeks I'm doin' it! And having fun. So I may be a little broke in April, but what the heck.
Today invitations were ordered. We'll get them ready as soon as they get here and then mail them. They are beautiful - a white card with an engraved floral border - it all white. The ink is midnight blue and the lined envelope is with midnight blue. We got match boxes for favors that are black with silver imprinting - they are so cute with a little "just married" car on them and the names of bride and groom and wedding date. We also have ordered personalized M&M's in blue and white to make favors also or we may put them out during the reception in a bowl with a little scoop.
I went to the church today and I have decided how to decorate it. The wedding cake is being ordered later today. I also decided how to decorate the social hall at the church. It used to be an afternoon wedding, but now it is an evening wedding and it is going to be beautiful!
We are doing sparklers instead of birdseed and then the couple is being picked up in a 1939 shiny black Ford with flames coming off the hood and the two tail pipes shoot out flames! It should be memorable.
Now for the rehearsal dinner . . .

Thats how the more religious Jews do it! We never do 1 year engagements :rotfl2: My friends got engaged in January and their August 8th date is rediculously far away :rotfl2: And they only waited because we are still college students (yep marry em young and have a million little children) :teeth:

Wow, you are so organized!

I just found out my DD is engaged! HOwever, her fiancee going into the Air Force in May, so can't set a date yet.It may end up being a last minute prep after all.

Where did you find htose MM's?

herc.

I'm glad to know I seem organized. I think time being so short makes it happen. The M&M's can be ordered on this website: www.shop2.mms.com
They really look cute and creative. Tonight I bought some small favor boxes to put them in. The boxes are flat and come 24 to a package and I have to assemble them. I only got one pack until I see if I like them. Once they are assembled they have a paper rose sticking up on top.

And the honeymoon is booked at the Casa de Solana bed and breakfast in St. Augustine, Florida. The people there are so nice!

Tomorrow we are going to a wedding festival so I may get some more ideas.

I ordered the custom M&M's last year for my son's high school graduation. There are VERY cute. I think you will be pleased. Everyone was very impressed!

Sounds like you have everything under control

Good luck!

Congratulations to your son and daughter to be! Good for all of you -- enjoying the party planning. I always feel so bad for the brides when it gets so out of control it is just a job not a fun event!

Thanks for the M&M site! Those are really cute! I bookmarked it to use for DS graduation next year! :cool1:

Actually I think a lot of weddings get planned to death and stressed about for years. You may be onto something here! Congratulations to the growth of your family. You sound very happy and that's fantastic.

My son informed us a few days before Christmas, (when we arrived home from WDW), that they had moved up their wedding date to January 14th. She had a very low paying job and they decided that it would help her out financially if they got married and had two incomes. It was a beautiful church wedding with a reception that my husband and I did. It is amazing how fast you can do things if you try. DH and I did the groom's dinner and reception by ourselves with relatives to help in the kitchen during the wedding. We just had appetizers, cake, punch, nuts and candy for the reception. Unfortunately the hardest part was the money. Her family didn't pay for anything and the kids didn't have any extra money, so DH and I paid for a lot of it. That was tough right after Christmas and a WDW/cruise vacation. But, I don't regret it. They have a lot of nice memories.

I hope your son is helping to plan it as well, it's not fair to put it all on Mom pixiedust:

Now in our case, we got engaged right around Christmas & got Married mid-April, we found a nice Inn that took care of everything for us... we gave them a date, some colors, we tasted some food, looked at some flowers & they did the rest :) I highly recommend doing it just that way! Let their event planner worry about it!!

Doesn't the bride want any say in how things go for her wedding day?

The bride and I confer on a nearly daily basis and whenever one of us thinks of something. She picked out invitations, bridesmaids dresses and has a lot of say in everything. DS on the ther hand just wants the two of us to plan it. Now he did have a lot to say about the honeymoon. That's more his thing. We are both having a great time of it and on Saturday we attended a wedding festival together. I had never been to one and we had a great time and came away full of hors d'ouevres and ideas.

oooohhh...you're brave! I just went to a Bridal Faire yesterday with my DIL-to-be and their wedding isn't until May of 2007! Sounds like you have things under control - I hope everything goes smoothly! You are such a nice Mom to do this!

Just wanted to say congratulations! You seem to have everything under control. Hope you all have a wonderful day and that the happy couple will have many wonderful years together.
