Planning a break

I’m thinking I should consider planning a break on a 7-11 Park day. How long do you normally budget total to get to your room, rest, and get back to a park.

Is three hours too short?

That depends on what park you're in, where you're staying and how you'd get there. If you're at the Contemporary and staying in MK, then 3 hours is plenty of time. If you're at a different park and have to uses buses, it may take a while. We stay offsite and bring our car, so depending on the park we're in and where the house is, we can get to our rental in about 30 minutes from "door to door" (MK takes a bit longer). You also should decide if you want to do a break and come back, or just stay until you're tired and then be done. There are pros and cons to each. For us, it's pretty rare that we actually plan a mid-day break. Normally, if we do a park in the morning, we show up around 10am. We stay until we're done. Maybe 2pm, maybe 3pm, maybe 4pm. We head home with no official plans to return. We get home, shower, relax or whatever. Then if we decide we want to head back out, we do.

To more directly answer your question (sorry if I rambled), on days where we have an impromptu break, three hours is roughly on target, sometimes it's four hours. If we walk out of a park at 3pm and decide to return, it's usually just after dinner when we get back.

I've never been one for breaks, but we never go when it's hot/humid out. I'd estimate 3-4 hours including travel time.

I forgot to clarify those points that would make a big difference. I’d be traveling from DHS to All Star Movies. My plan was to leave around 3:15 and set foot back in the park by 6:30.

We usually leave our 1st park @ 2:00 and return to our 2nd park @ 6:30. So, about 4 1/2 hours which includes about 1 1/2 hours total travel time, a couple hours at the pool and then about an hour to shower and dress for park #2.

We almost always take a break. We also plan to be at the park at rope drop, so by lunch we have been heavy at it for 4 to 5 hours. We like to get the most popular rides done while some are still sleeping. Then eat either in a favorite park restaurant or go back to resort and eat in food court. Naps are normal for us...long naps. Then get up, refresh, and head back out for several hours in the park. These earlier closings have made me rethink some of this as I am used to MK staying open until 1 or 2 in the morning, maybe even 3. On average our mid-day breaks last about 4 to 5 hours.

That’s not a lot of break time, in my opinion. Say it takes you an hour to get back, it would be 4:15 until you are in the room and I’d leave around 5:30 to get back by 6:30. I’d leave the park by 2 if you want to be back by 6:30 and want to have a decent break at the resort.

Maybe consider Uber or Lyft so your commute time will be shorter

I was thinking of taking Uber/Lyft. I thought I’d use it to get back to the park that night.

I used it a few times last trip and thought it was worth it, from a time perspective especially.

I would recommend doing a TS lunch and dinner as breaks instead of leaving and coming back. We find the time spent at meals helps us to relax and recharge.

I actually had the opposite planned - TS lunch and QS dinner at Woody’s Lunch Box. I wasn’t sure that would be enough - but I’m flexible and can take a break if I’m exhausted.

EDITED - I picked up an earlier lunch at the Brown Derby. It should give me enough time to take a full 75 minute break in park at midday. Since DHS is still show heavy, the rest of my day shouldn’t be too strenuous. :)
