OK, we just got back from 10 days at BCV less than a week ago, but we're already planning 2007. That 11-month window really sneaks up on you, you know!

So we bought into the Beach Club for 190 points. There are three of us, and we can stay in a studio for 10 days in July for 160 points, which would leave us with 30 points to bank. In a perfect world. Unfortunately, we like the one-bedroom and have been alternating between the studio and one-bedroom every other year. Then I had an idea:

We have 76 points left for 2007  darn borrowing!
We have 190 points that we can borrow for 2008.
That gives us 266 points to work with. We need 360 for our 1-bedroom. That's a difference of 94 points. (See, Mom, I can too do math!)

I know we can pay the difference in cash. My question is, how much would it cost to pay the difference? Is it worth it? How much would it cost to add on 170 vacation points to our account? (That would bring us to 360 points per use year) We would have to add them on at Saratoga Springs. How does this affect our booking? Can we still book at BCV 11 months out with all of the points, or only with the original 190, and wait until 7 months out to use the other 170?

Thanks everyone

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "we can pay the difference in cash"? I know you can do the following:

- rent BCV points from another member and have them transferred into your account

- book one or more "cash" nights through MS and have those nights linked to your points reservation

As you stated, you could also just buy more points at BCV or at any other DVC resort. You stated you would have to add points at SSR rather than buy more BCV points. If that is the case, then you would have to wait until 7 months out to use those SSR points to add to your BCV reservation. If you really prefer to stay at BCV, why not add on points at BCV so you can always make your reservation at 11 months out? Current price for BCV points through Disney is $95/point, though you will probably have to go on a waiting list to get them.

I have had that same problem because of that 'darn borrowing"! ;)

What I did (lots of us here on this site do) and will do until I catch up is I book cash nights for Fri & Sat. You will see this will cut your points requirement down dramtically.

What a great idea!! Thanks a lot, I never would have thought of that. That will cut down on the points by a huge margin. :thumbsup2

You sound like a candidate for what we did. We originally purchased 220 points, but after just one year, we realized that was not enough. We then added 150 at the same resort to give us the 11 month booking window for all the points. We did have the choice of adding on at a different resort, but my advice is to keep all your points in one place, because that seems to be where you want to stay. To do that, you should start looking at resales and/or get yourself on the DVC waitlist for more points at your home resort. BTW, we now have 380 points, and it seems to be the perfect number for us.
