Ive not been the Disney since 93. I have a almost 3 year old that we are looking at taking to disney either this september or April-May of 09. The disney price to stay at value hotel was 1600 for sun-sat for sept. Any advice or help would be appreciated. Just 3 total going on the trip.

Welcome to the DIS!! I am sure many folks will be come along to share their expertise...you have come to a great place to have questions answered. Here are some things we enjoy:

* plan time to swim daily. Also, resorts will let you borrow swim vests for
the length of your stay.

* if you are going to collect character autographs, plan time for it -- it does
take a lot of time. Attending a character breakfast is efficient and
fun,but make your adrs as soon as you can/decide

* We pretty much stick to our regular schedule regarding bedtime to avoid
cranky kids the next day. Consider planning an easy day the next day if
you have a late night, and also a no-park day in the middle of your trip to
give everyone a chance to rest! This is also a good time to visit
Downtown Disney, relax at the pool, tour various resorts, have a special
meal at a resort, etc.

* In addition to collecting autographs, kids like to trade pins w/castmembers
or collect pressed pennies.

* You can bring your own snacks and drinks in the park, and this can be a
real time and money saver. I always bring in a small cooler bag w/juice
and familiar snacks and they come in handy in lines or shows -- also, it is
nice not to have to hunt down and appopriate snack and then wait in line
for it.

* bring your own lightweight umbrella stroller

* don't be afraid of the rain...pack ponchos and stroller covers and keep on
going!

* read a guide book on the parks to give you a depth of knowledge of what
there is and to assist you in deciding your daily itineraries.

Happy planning.

We too kept our regular schedule as much as possible with our 2 kids. It made the trip much more enjoyable. We went back to our resort mid day everyday for a couple of hours for a break. You would be surprised how fast a surly kid can rebound once you get away from the noise and get some nourishment in their belly. Everytime my son became unreasonable it was around mealtime and we knew he needed food and less stimulation. Also, don't try to see and do everything this trip. You will ejoy what you do see much more and leave things to look forward to for your next trip. I recommend reading Disney with Kids by Michelle Wright. It has lots of information about all the attractions in all the parks, including a "scare factor" for each to give you a heads up about how your child may react. It helped me decide which things my children would enjoy the most so I knew what to make time for. It can also give you information about your resort. If your child is afraid of characters just spot them from afar. Next trip they'll probably be totally into them! Relax and enjoy! Enjoy the magic while your there and take LOTS of pictures to enjoy until you can take your trip! Have a magical day!!!
