Planing for Dec 2010

For those of us who are going Dec 5 2010, we only have 450 more days! Whoohoo!

If we're this giddy at 450, what are we going to be like at 300???? :rotfl2: I'm so pumped up for this trip that I feel like to book the Contemporary Magic Kingdom view. Anybody else????

My countdown clock says 447 today :dance3:

We booked up with Dreams a few weeks ago, which means the control freak in me is looking for something else to obsess over...did we go for the right resorts? Who will we fly with? Where should we eat? I do love me some Disney planning :cloud9:

How did you like the Poly? Was it worth it having the monorail with the little one? I think I want a monorail hotel. I really like the Wilderness Lodge, and this would be the only time we could do it as our little girl will still be under 3, but after that then we're counted as a family of 5. But I just can't get it out of my head that it would be so nice to have the monorail.:confused3

We loved the Poly. However, the monorail was not as convenient as I had hoped. It was our main reason for going deluxe this year. We still had to walk quite a bit to get to the monorail ( often with her in our arms). Don't get me wrong - it beats taking the buses, but I think I might prefer a rental car. Also, if you plan on spending most of your time at MK or Epcot, the monorail is handy, but you still have to take buses to the other parks. It was also a longer walk than I had thought to get to the pools, restaurants, main lobby, etc. The room was great - no complaint there. The resort itself is amazing and is worth going at least once.

We are staying at the Poly again and not sure if I would stay anywhere else. Check out the tikimans site to see which longhouse to request. Our last stay was in Tuvalu, which was close to everything. Some of the longhouses can be a little bit of a walk to the GCH but yet may be closer to the TTC.

You will LOVE Disney at Christmas time.. we went the 2nd week of December in 2006 and it was BEAUTIFUL!!!

December is the month we always travel to Disney as it's the most beautifully decorated of all the seasons IMO. We've been to Disney in May, August and December trying to cover all of the special events and can say that Christmas by far is the best. Everyone likes Christmas and experiencing Christmas at Disney is simply breathtaking. We'll be there 11/29-12/5/09 and then again December 2010. We always book 1 year in advance and make payments so that our resort is paid off way in advance.

We are taking a Dec trip this yr. Started off back in Jan booking a room only.
Throughout the year I have since changed from AAA discount room only, to a much better disney room only discount, to finally a free dining package that turned out to be an even better value.

Definitely once you decide on a resort reserve it room only. You can always make changes for the better throughout the year.

Thank you for that advice.. I think we are going to go now in the middle of November.. if I do room only now.. I can add all the extras later right? also if a better deal, say, free dining comes out.. I can apply that to my room only ressie??

thank you!

Yes. That is exactly what I did. Free dining offer would change it to a vac package.
The only difference is if you go to a package you have to pay it off 45 days prior to going where the room only ressie can wait till arrival to pay it off.

Had absolutely no problem doing this. Disney had to refund room only deposit and start a new ressie for the package with a deposit.

Again, have no worries in your ability to make changes. Just make sure you get what you want as far as resorts go.

:thumbsup2
Thanks... I THINK I am pretty set on WL for November 2010...I may run a few more numbers to see if I might want to do the Poly.. but I think it is going to be way too much than I want to spend right now... but I will be booking something soon..

thanks again!

I booked the Contemporary Magic Kingdom View!!! I gave my DH a few days to digest the cost (:scared1:) and he never objected, so today I booked it. Maybe it was the pictures of the view that I showed him?? :confused3 In fact he asked if our DD who will turn 3 while down there, will wear a princess dress while we are there. I think I've corrupted him! :rotfl2:

So we are booked Dec. 5-Dec. 11 with 6-day park tickets (no hoppers) at CR with MK View. Now to decide on where to have her 3rd b-day dinner with the princesses. I'm hearing terrible reviews about CRT so might have to go with the Princesses at Norway in Epcot or 1900 Park Fare. Anybody have suggestions????

Love the Norway Princess meal! We have done breakfast at both Norway and CRT, and prefer Norway. For as hard as CRT is to get, the cost and all the hoopla...it didn't live up to our expectations. We had lots more time with the princess at Norway and Belle is usually there in her yellow dress (at least for breakfast) so that was a huge plus for our girls!

Do you remember what princesses were there? I read on Allears that Cinderella makes an occasional appearance. Can anybody confirm this?

We stayed at the CR magic kingdom view for our December 2008 trip.
WE LOVED IT!

We were there for 6 nights as well. How exciting for your daughter to have a birthday while you are there!

We really liked CRT. We had lunch there. Since there were so many of us (14) my travel agent suggested we book a 12:05 seating since it is one of the first lunch seatings. We barely waited at all. The princesses were fabulous and spent lots of time with all the kids in our party. The girls loved the wands and the boys loved the swords. I thought the food at CRT was much better than the food in Norway (and yes I am an adventurous eater - the food was cold).

Either way if you are looking for princesses you will find them in both places! princess:

Have a great vacation!! :yay:

We are booked at CR December 11-18th 2010 with the Theme Park View. I am thinking about maybe changing hotels that last night since it goes up about 200 bucks in one night. I would like to then transfer to the WL just for a couple of days so I can experience it too.

I've seen and heard the bad reviews of CRT, but I have to be honest with you...we were there last year and our dinner was fabulous. Yes, it was costly (but we used 2 TS credits) but in my opinion it was well worth it. The service was great, as was the visitation of the mice, fairy God Mother. Its a very elegant dinner.

1900 Park Fare was also awesome, but it was very active and extremely noisy.

I'm thinking of ditching the family and going solo in early Dec. next year.

I've already taken DD9 on a Mom/Daughter trip for MVMCP last Nov. and it didn't go well so I want a redo with no kids or DH along. :rotfl:

DS13 is asking if he can go but with him being in the 9th grade then, I don't know if that would be a good idea.

I really want to stay at POFQ too. We've gotten to the point that when the whole family goes we have to have queen beds or at least 2 doubles and a rollaway so I'll never get to stay at POFQ if I don't go solo.

I tried to get in there on my April/May 09 Solo Trip but they didn't have any rooms left at the AP rate so I ended up at POR. Which was nice too.

I'm debating heading over to the Gaylord Palms Ice Palace if I go solo. I'd have to catch a cab though since I don't normally rent a car when I'm solo. Anybody been there ever?

We've been three times to Norway and have always done a late breakfast. There is one princess in the lobby/greeting area to take a photo with. They will then bring the photo to your table during your meal and you can purchase it. We have always had Belle in her big, yellow dress as the photo princess. Once when we were getting ready to leave, they were switching to lunch, and Ariel was the photo princess. She waved to my girls but we couldn't get a pic with her.

When we've been there, they have had Snow White, Sleeing Beauty, Jasmine and Mulan walking through the tables. I have heard of Cinderella being there but have never seen her myself. Maybe she is there for dinner?
