Hello all..
I have never really planned this far in advance and never for a deluxe resort.. my question is, should I book a room only now and wait for the chance that I may get free dining/or 4/3?
Can I add all the tickets and what not later? Will it cancel the room that I book now? Anyone have any experience booking a year in advance?

Thank you!

Hi! I'm planning right with you. The way I understand it is, if you book a room now and a special rate/deal comes out, the only way you can get that deal is if there are rooms available that they have set aside to correspond with the deal. They only set aside a certain number of rooms and once those are gone, you can't get them. Not to say you can't book a room at the hotel, but you just won't get the special rate. You can't take your present room and put it on the deal, but if there are rooms available then you will get the discounted rate. Did I explain this in circles???

Yes, you can add your tickets at a later date.

What deluxe did you decide on? I'm leaning more towards Wilderness, but have always wanted to stay on the monorail. It will be me, DH, DS 9, DS 6 and DD 2. I guess I have plenty of time to decide...

I am looking into WL as well.. that was my first "gut" choice.. we are also thinking of the poly as well... its such a tough decision but we do have some time.. have you made any reservations yet? What time are you going?
I see you have school aged kids.. are you pulling them out of school? We are and of course I am going back and forth on doing that.. But I love going to disney in December..

I am planning a Dec 2010 trip too. We were there this January and loved it. I want to go see the Christmas decorations. My son is going to be 14 then and I think it would be a nice way to spend the Christmas season. I just cant get enough. No wonder people go back to Disney year after year. Its like a different world. I am hoping for some kind of code/rate for next year. Free dining would be awesome. We were only planning on staying for 4-5 days, so the 4/3 deal wouldnt be good for us. Im excited!!!

You will LOVE Disney at Christmas time.. we went the 2nd week of December in 2006 and it was BEAUTIFUL!!!

I am planning our first trip for Sept 2010 and I have booked everything except the dining plan through my AAA agent. We left it off as I am hoping to catch the free dining promo (if offered again) :scared: SHe has assured me that we she will stay on top of things to be sure we are set well before our 180th day. So lets hope some pixie dust blow our way so that we are able to get the deals we want pixiedust:

We are going Dec. 5-11. And yes, we are pulling them out of school and I don't feel bad about it! Once they get into high school we'll have to fight the crowds during holiday breaks, but for now it's worth it to have the extra school work to do before we leave to make up for lower crowd levels. I don't know when I'll actually reserve the room, but at least the dates for my vacation are on my calendar. :cool1: We've never been to Disney in December and I am looking forward to it.

Just jumping on this thread as I am hoping to go back to WDW next year in either November or December. We have been lucky enough to go the last five years, but have never stayed onsite. We are not going at all this year, and it's killing me! I am looking at the week after Thanksgiving 2010. We have been this week before, as well as in late October and then early November, but that week right after Thanksgiving was my favorite...love the holiday decorations!

I am looking at one of the deluxe resorts, but would probably only be able to do so with a promo code...hopefully for free dining! We will take our girls out school as well. I figure it's easier to do so now vs. when they are in high school.

Will you all book through AAA or directly with Disney? I am trying to figure out the best to do!

I will book myself. I need to be in control. :rotfl2: And if I let somebody else do that, it takes away all the fun from my obsession in planning.

You sound just like me! Another thought...will you all book well before they (hopefully) announce the offer? Looks like that was mid-July for this fall's offer. I am thinking of booking well before July 2010...especially since dining reservations can now be made 180 days in advance. Don't want to miss those!

Then I would just call WDW with the promo code and have them apply that to my reservations, correct?

I am hoping to get the free dining too.. I am still trying to decide if I want to do beginning of Nov or Dec.. I think we may have 2 days off of school in the beg of Nov, then he would only miss 3 days of school.. do you get a better discount at AAA? I have AAA, do you get 10-15% off what disney.com quotes you

Yes, we can do that.. that's what I plan on doing too.

Disney is sooo nice in December.. weather wise and the decorations!!

I have already booked our CL stay at the Poly for Dec 5-11, 2010. This time I used Mouse Fan Travel. Our TA will book our ADR's for us so I don't have to worry about going online or calling. Our TA will get up early in the morning to do this.

I started planning this trip this past March and was so excited when August came and was able to book our trip.

Taylor3297. was going through a TA any cheaper than going through Disney?

I am now leaning towards the 2nd week of November... when can we start ADR's 180 days out?

It wasn't cheaper, but our TA will continue to look for deals for us, so I won't have too continue to check myself. I am so afraid that I will miss a special or code. She will also do our ADR's for us too. A friend of ours works for Mouse Fan Travel, that is why we chose that agency.

Jumping on board too! We have gone the past two Januarys but are thinking about skipping this coming Jan and waiting to go in Dec instead. I really want to go at Christmas for the decorations. I just hope I can handle the wait! DD will be 5 1/2 then and will hopefully finally be tall enough to ride some bigger rides. She just missed the 40 inch cut off this January and was sooo upset. Hoping I can convince DH to go for another Deluxe. We did Poly last trip and would like to try AK or CR. Maybe WL since it just seems like it would be cool in Dec. Heres hoping for some good deals or codes!

How did you like the Poly? Was it worth it having the monorail with the little one? I think I want a monorail hotel. I really like the Wilderness Lodge, and this would be the only time we could do it as our little girl will still be under 3, but after that then we're counted as a family of 5. But I just can't get it out of my head that it would be so nice to have the monorail.:confused3

I am also starting to plan my December 2010 trip (dec 5-12th). I have not booked yet because I am still trying to think of which resort I want to stay at. It's hard to decide. we went twice this year so I am also having a hard time with the fact this is so far away! I'm addicted!

Anyways, when we went in January I booked it with out a promo. Then when the buy 4 get three came out I just called and they gave me the discount. I believe even if you only do a room only booking now you can call and add a package with whatever promo is currently out for that time, but that way you will at least have a room booked! I know for my trips I called and made changes like DXDDP before we went.

We are planning for December 2010 as well. We probably won't book until February though. We are hoping to stay at the BC CL.
