Ok went to the one at DTD and it was ok but it is very noisey and crowded and we went at an odd time. We did get the photo that they take of you when you go in but only because we were on honeymoon and it was a cute photo.
Food was ok pretty much standard like most of these places but they are pretty slow and the staff seem to disappear when you need them. I'm still waiting for my glass of water.
Overall I have had worse meals than that so it would not stop me going back but either make an ADR or go at an off time otherwise you might struggle to get in.
We found the prices to be high, The $15 off coupon basically paid for our drinks (1 iced tea, 2 cokes, 1 milkshake). The food was just average. We did it once, my kids thought it was neat to see it, but will not be going back. The coupon does not make it a bargain for us.
It's fine. As others have said, it is loud, and the tables are usually right on top of each other so it seems very crowded. The food is okay. I don't think you'll regret going there (especially with your coupon), but there are several better dining options in the DTD area.
Like everyone else said it has mediocre/average food. I don't go there every time I visit WDW, however, it is a fun atmosphere and different from other PH's around the US that I've been to in a good way. They seem to have the 'best stuff' in terms of movie memorabilia.
Rainforest cafe is fairly common up by me (there's three within 40 miles) so I like to get out to PH when I can. Though I've thought of trying Wolfgang Puck Express....
i'll agree, it was ok (at best) the only reason i'd go back is for the blue lagoon drink, it came with a plastic shark in it! o joy it was the best drink i had on my trip (this was in '06, i hope they still have it!)
DH seems drawn to Planet Hollywood's - he even made me eat at the one in London - of all the places to eat in London, he chose Planet Hollywood
Like everyone else has said, the food is average, it's quite noisy, and you better make friends with those sitting at the tables around you because you're basically eating with them. The atmosphere is fun though. We went to the one at DTD on our honeymoon and we were wearing the bride and groom ears as we walked up to the podium to give our names. As we walked into the restaurant (ears were packed away in our bag at this point) they played the song "Going to the chapel" and were showing scenes from "Father of the Bride" on the big screen. It took a few seconds for us to realize that they were playing it for us! The person who showed us to our seats congratulated us and told our waitress we were on our honeymoon - she congratulated us, loud enough for everyone near us to hear, as she arrived at our table. It's a fun memory!
I am echoing some other posters on this thread. We used the coupon as well, and went once...once might be the key word. The atmosphere was fun and my kids enjoyed the neat movie stuff all over the restaurant walls. The music is loud but for us, it added to the fun vibe.
However, we wouldn't go back. The food was not only nothing special, but not even really tasty and the service is non existent. Our server was friendly enough when we saw her...that one time she passed by!
It might be fun to try just for the atmosphere, but I wouldn't go there for delicious food or stellar service. You won't get either there, unfortunately.
Maybe the ideal plan is to go for appetizers/snacks or dessert, and eat a good meal somewhere else!
has anyone used the $10 off $20 or $5 off $20 coupon that you can print off the internet?? I just wanted to make sure this location at disney was one of the participating locations.
We ate there in mid-April. It was actually for a late lunch, early supper so it wasn't crowded. We "fueled up" and then all through DD.
I myself didn't care for the loud music on the tv's but my kids of course thought that was great. I was pleasantly surprised by the food. My son and I each had a turkey club and it was absolutely delicious. My 6-year old had pizza and it was huge...we took more than half of it back to the room later. I can't remember what my DH had but he loved it. We did use our $15 coupon but keep in mind that if you use that you can't use the DDP credits as well - it's one or the other...
The memorabilia is kinda neat...definitely worth seeing once. I think if it had been really busy I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much but again the food was really good so with the coupon (and only one child's meal credit left on the DDP) it was a good choice for us.
Haha, we ate at the Planet Hollywood in Paris. It was just one of those things where we were passing it at the moment and we figured we'd be okay with our limited French. And for everyone saying PH is loud in Orlando, try going to one in Europe during the World Cup. Just sayin'.
Again, pretty average food. When my family goes, we sometimes like to order 3-4 appetizers and split them. And if you get a waiter who tells you that they only offer the mixed drinks that are featured on the menu, he is full of poo.
