We are arriving on sat. april 5th. I wanted to go to Planet Hollywood for an early dinner using my voucher. My DH and I thought our DSs (5 y.0.) would have fun eating there and spending a little time at DTD before we went to bed early. However, everything I read about it says how terrible it is. I have eaten there a couple of times several years ago and don't remember it being awful. I know it's not gourmet food but is any worse than other chain restaurants (Applebee's Ruby, Tuesday, etc.) Should we just eat somewhere else? TIA

PH is a fun restaurant. My experiences there are better than the typical chain place. Just order simple. Fajitas and burgers are a decent choice.

I'd go with it, especially since you have a voucher. Why not use it. OT question: Do you have to make reservations ahead of time for here? Thks.

Atmosphere is fun. Service is spotty. Food is OK. Used to be a 1st night tradition for us, until we discovered Rainforest Cafe.

Thanks for the input. You don't have to have a reservation but with A WDW vacation package you can get an ADR between 11-6. Since this will be a sat. in April I thought this would be our best option for getting in somewhere to eat without having to wait to long. I do like the Rainforest Cafe but I think we might end up waiting awhile for a table.

We LOVE it! We ate there twice last year, neither time using our DDP (we paid OOP, although we did apply the WDW voucher to one trip there).

It is not cheap by any means (1 shared appetizer, 3 meals, 2 shakes, 1 soda, no alcohol, no dessert, plus tip, plus tax) was still about $70.00 but the food is good, so good we went back twice! The interior is awesome... you are bound to find something that has some meaning for you (mine was Dorothy's dress from The Wizard of Oz, DS was the Terminator outfit, DH really did not like one thing more than any other)!

This year we actually made an ADR and are using one TS each to dine there on our first day down! :goodvibes

We really like it! It's not on the must-do list, but if you have a voucher, I'd go. The food is good, especially the burgers and the atmosphere is fun.

I am going to call and hopefully get an ADR for around 5:30 or 6:00 we hope to be getting to Orlando around 4 (we're driving) and I think DTD and dinner at Planet Hollywood will be a fun way to spend sometime before we got to the POLY on Sunday to officially begin our vacation!!

We liked it there.. the kids enjoyed the atmosphere, although it was really loud, even for them.

We enjoy Planet Hollywood and have never had a bad meal there. I have had the ribs on several occassions and they have always bean very good. The strawberry shortcake is yummy!

PH is OK. VERY loud and pretty expensive. Hubby's pasta carbonara was VERY good. The kids did not like the kids pizza at all. The burgers were fine, not great. For 5 of us - 1 ordered from kids menu - the bill came to $115. (only 1 alcoholic drink - no specialty glasses, etc.) We won't be eating there again, but I am glad we did it once. (My 7 YO, who loves to talk, didn't really enjoy it becasue he said there is no way you can have a "chat" in there.....)

I hate to be the dissenter here, but.....RUN!!! (away, that is). IMHO PH is way past it's prime. The last time we were there (granted, it's been several years) the food was as bad as the service. It was as if we were there after the restaurant had been dormant for months. To compare it to Applebees or Chilis is not fair to those two! Granted, the atmosphere is "neat" if you've never experienced it, but to me, a restaurant should be about the food and that was a let down. To me, time (and $$) would be much better spent at Rainforest. Personally, we're waiting for the opening of the new dino restaurant at downtown disney. Good luck and enjoy!

You are definately paying for the atmosphere. Food is ok and service is also ok. I don't think we will go back in Sept when we go back. I think we are going to hit Beaches and Cream instead and pay OOP there looks great.

we ate there first day, was there back in feb. 08 . i had chicken pasta, with broccoli, it was delicious. my son had fajitas, got quite a bit of food also. was stuffed when we left. loved the music atmosphere . would definetaly go back again, i do remember waiting awhile on our food. but worth it. my husband had steak i believe. :yay:

We're going to PH during our WDW trip in June. I've been there once before and had a great time and the service was great, given how busy they were. We will be using our DDP this time, as I recall it was pretty expensive last time. Anyone know if the the Disney voucher has to be for food, or can it be used for adult beverages? At least we'll be able to use if for an appetizer, if nothing else.

Only downside...when I called for ADR, I was told they are only taking walk-ups during the time we'll be in Orlanda. Oh well.

We go there every trip. We have never had a bad meal and there are 5 of us so we have tried alot of different items.

It was great! Fun place, very loud which we like because we have 2 noisy little ones and they blend right in! LOL Food was great! Used our voucher with no problems. Service was great! The turkey clubs are awesome as are the boneless buffalo strips--they come on sticks so no mess! Love 'em! Oh but one thing as someone else noted...kids did not like the pizza...bad choice...go with the chicken strips or pasta instead! Enjoy!
