I am looking around at menus, etc, trying to get started on planning for our trip. All of the menus looked good and they all seem like great places to eat. We will have 2 children with us, ages 5 and 8, if that helps anything :)

Which one do you prefer?

I have just returned from my latest trip over Christmas and New Year. Rainforest Cafe and Planet Hollywood are very good with good choice on the menus. I would recommend Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom. You should make a reservation first for your evening meal.
I cannot recommend T-Rex at all. We went there 2 years ago and the service and food were ok. We were a little disappointed. I decided to go back on this trip as I felt the passage of time would have allowed them to iron out any teething issues they had.
I was so disappointed. The menu is fine and there is plenty of choice. If nly it came out hot. The service was attrocious. We waited 50 minutes to get a table and we had appetizers and entrees served in less than 30 minutes. I just felt there was no care of service. They wanted us out as quickly as possible to turn the table.
I realise this is a personal review of T-Rex and others will no doubt sing its praises. The style of food is very similar to rainforest cafe so I would recommend RC. PH is always a must on my trips.

I hope you enjoy whatever you choose.

We also travel with toddlers and teens. Of the 3 T-Rex is our favorite. We tried it for the first time this past September and enjoyed it so much we are planning our first meal there in May. We enjoy the DTD area and our first day will be our only chance to visit. We have decided to make that a non-park day.

I have to say I'm very fussy, if the food or service is sub-par I'll not return.

I have been to T-rex twice myself and have loved it. Going in you know it will be crowded and the waits a little longer but out of both those trips I haven't had to wait to long for a table or the food. Warning though it can get very pricey, heck someone has to pay to keep all those dinos feed lol :rotfl2:

I have also been to Rainforest Cafe many many times at at many different locations and you cant go wrong with eating there either. Its a little pricey but I dont think its as bad as T rex.

You really cant go wrong with either of these places, i would show the kids both places and let them decide which one they would rather go to. On a side note if you join the Rain Forest Cafe Safari Club you wont have to wait in line for a table and that comes in super handy along with the discounts and email coupons I always get. I know i had a one time fee ($10-$15 cant remember) but its is well worth it. And since Trex and Rain forest are owned by the same company the card worked there in the past. Not sure if it still does or not since it has been about a year and a half since i was there last.

Edit **** Trex is not included in the Safari Club after checking the web site!!!!

Of the three, I'd stay away from Planet Hollywood. Granted, it's been many years since we went there and things may have changed. However, it was the worst meal we've ever had on Disney property. The food wasn't very good and the service was horrible. It was mid-afternoon, with about 2 tables worth of people in the place and service took FOREVER. We hardly saw our server and never got drink refills, even after asking for them. It's somewhere we'll probably never return to because of the bad experience we had. ::MinnieMo

I vote for T-rex based on the ages of your children. The menu is similar to Rainforest. I would make a ressie for an early meal so the chances of being seated without wait are higher. We always make ressies for around 4pm for dinner and around 11am for lunch. There are way less people there and less wait. The ambiance is fun and you should have a nice time.

1st choice TRex, 2nd choice Rainforest Cafe and 3rd choice Planet Hollywood. DS 10 and DS 6 agree. We have a ressie for TRex in April but also ate at Rainforest at AK in Nov and it was good. Ate at Planet Hollywood three years ago and swore I would never go back when there are so many other choices.

I ate at T-Rex last April, and I've eaten at a Planet Hollywood and Rainforest Cafe in Niagara Falls before. None of the food at any of the places are anything to write home about - all the same "chain" like food. For kids, I think the best atmosphere is T-Rex. I don't know if that restaurant is a chain or unique to DTD, but I've never heard of it elsewhere and I know Planet Hollywood and Rainforest Cafe are in many big cities. Second choice would be Rainforest Cafe and last would be Planet Hollywood. I don't think kids that young could really appreciate that much at PH. They would have more fun with the dinos!

Do you have to make a reservation at T-Rex??

Yes you do. You can try through the online reservation system but there is very limited chocies, if any reservations at all. However you can call the restaurant directly and should be able to get a reservation. We did this for our upcoming trip.:)

Do you have to make a reservation at T-Rex??

I went on a Thursday afternoon in April last year for lunch, around noon, and the place was empty. We didn't have reservations and there was no one in there. You could make reservations to be safe though.

I can help w/ this one! I have been to all 3. One of my favorite places is the Rainforest Cafe. I like the salads & wraps. The T-Rex is next on my list & lastly Planet Hollywood. I think RC & TR are best for kids. Have a great time!:thumbsup2

Well, Planet Hollywood has tons to look at, though it felt like we were sitting on top of other people, they sqeeze so many people in there!! Its good if you don't plan on talking to one another, cause its SUPER LOUD! Food is edible, nothing great! T-Rex was neat, its new, so its super busy, make reservations, or most likely you will be standing in line a while! There is a nice dino dig one fo you can take the kiddies over to while food is being cooked! The food is pretty good, but very expensive, me and hubby went there, got an appetizer to share, and a cotton candy martini(sooo yummm!!) and it was 53 bucks!! Call me old fashioned but Rainforrest cafe is my favorite! The food is pretty good, the scenery is neat, the fish tanks are awesome! Now, if your kids get scared easily, in Trex, there a meteor shower, and the the dinos go a little bit crazy! Rainforest has a thinderstorm, and those animals go crazy! My son who was 5 at the time cried everytime it happened! It happends i think every 15 min or so! So keep that in mind! The good thing was you can talk to one another in these 2 places! Trex also has build a dino in it, just like build a bear, this place is really fun for the kids, for like 25 bucks they can make there own dinos, fill them, dress them, really fun for the kiddies! rex has some nice size portions too! :O)

I enjoy the food most at Planet Hollywood, however I prefer the theming at the other two. If you have never been to a Rainforest Cafe I would probably choose that over T-Rex. :)

Rainforest Cafe. Planet Hollywood is great...but I think atmosphere-wise with your kids, Rainforest Cafe is the better choice. Great food, great atmosphere, and we've always had great service there. :)
