We have ADR's in September for dinner at planet hollywood. Please tell me the good and the bad! Any meal suggestions? Thanks!!:goodvibes

There are times that PH really gets slammed on this board, but Dh & I really enjoy it there. It's just fun to walk up the red carpet & look at all the movie props & pictures. The place is pumping with music, a dj in fact, so while it's loud, it's fun. Not the place to go for romance! Service has always been fine for us & we really like the food. We go every trip. The chicken crunch app is yummy & we usually get the potato skins too which are good. All the apps sound good to us, but we usually get those. I get the ribeye steak which is always yummy. DH has gotten some kind of Asian shrimp thing which he liked alot & he's picky. They used to have a shrimp/steak combo that he loved, but that was off the menu this year. He got ribs one year & while he liked them, he said they weren't the most tender ribs he's had. Dessert-banana foster cheesecake-yum & this year was the ghiradelli brownie sundae. Overall, we don't have any complaints about this place. FYI, make an ADR!! Have a great time.

Good - signature drinks, most desserts, a few entrees are memorable. The burgers have been reliably good on past visits.

Bad - noise level is very loud, inconsistent service ("Hurry up and wait"), salads, and the tables are right atop each other.

We like PH, too. Usually that is our "first night" meal. We're usually in a party mood when we go, so the noise doesn't bother us. Don't go if you have to meet any timeframes and you'll be fine. Can't remember any particular menu items we liked best, but the ribs we're good. Just like any other themed chain restaurant in the world. Have a good time!

My family went here last September. We are a family of eight. I am sorry to say it was the worst food and service I have ever had at any place anywhere. Every meal and app was just awful. Never again. By the way, we have eaten at other Planet Hollywood places and liked them.

I was considering PH as our first night meal, but the noise issue concerns me. We don't go to the local Red Robin because of that... love the food, but the noise makes it no fun at all. A dj only makes it worse, and makes me seriously reconsider PH.

Noise level in my opinion is about a 10, 10 being the loudest.

We went this past April because of 2 $15. vouchers we got with the package. We were on the top level and it wasn't even crowded and we were yelling across the table to each other. Fun and interesting place. Food was ho-hum. Burgers were ok. Club sands were yucky! Better places to eat. Go for dessert.

The noise level is definitely a 10.

Here's the bad from my point of view -

1. The tables were way to close together. When the hostess showed us our table we literally said, "Are you serious?" We had to do some major shifting just to be able to pull the chairs out from the table (and we're not large people - just needed the basic amount of space).

2. The waiter was rude, clueless and clumsy. He tried to insist we order 3 appetizers since our oldest son was on an adult plan. The kids wouldn't eat any apps on the menu and 2 was plenty for DH and me. He really badgered us and it was really annoying.

3. The food was really bad. My cobb salad was basically inedible. The lettuce was slimy the cheese was just plain yuck and the mystery meat (still don't know if it was chicken or turkey) was tough. I didn't send it back because it just wasn't worth having to deal with that waiter any further.

4. The waiter slammed a plate down on the table and the cup of salsa flew off and spilled on my son's leg. He's a little autistic and doesn't like getting dirty so he complained a little loudly. The waiter just glared at him and said, "Geez, it's no big deal."

We couldn't wait to get out of there. It was the most un-Disneylike experience of the whole trip.

The good - let me think about this for a minute......still thinking....drawing a blank....hmmmm.....nope, still thinking......

Also would love to hear more reviews on Planet Hollywood.

problems with planet hollywood:
  • standard fare you can eat in your home town
  • very loud
  • classic example of taking advantage of a name to make cheap food
good with planet hollywood:
  • cool theming
  • the food is just cheap and standard (dosen't necessarily mean it is bad)

We have been there 3 times. The last time was Spring Break 07 so we could use our $15.00 voucher. It will be the last time we go there. It was mostly all bad. The first time we went there was when it was first open and it was great but time has taken its toll. It was the worst meal we had that week.

I really had a good time there. I went with DH and my 2 teenage brothers. We all had fun and took lots of pictures with the statues. The food was good in my opinion. I didn't mind the noise, the place had lots of energy. I guess it is better for a fun group type setting rather than a relaxing dinner for two. HTH

We last went in November 2005. The first time we went was our second night there and we loved it - great food - great atmosphere - not too loud. In fact we liked it so much we decided to go back on our last night of that holiday. We arrived a bit later as we had finished our packing first. What a disappointment. It was so loud. We had our DD with us who was 4 at the the time and she spent the time we were in there with her hands over her ears. When the waitress came to take our drinks order we were literally shouting the order at her and she still couldn't hear. We asked her if we could move upstairs (apparently it isn't so loud up there) but were told the top floor was closed and the one below it was full. It was so loud we had to leave. We ended up going to Jungle Jims (which has now gone - thank goodness) and the food was awful. it really spoiled our last night.

I think the mistake we made was arriving that bit later. The first time we had gone straight from Seaworld so it was only about 6.30. I wonder if they turn the music louder the later into the night it gets.

I don't want to put you off as PH is a very lively place to go and a great experience, but if you intend to have a nice conversation you will be disappointed. To me, the noise level goes way beyond 10.

Perhaps others on this thread could say what times they have been and what the noise was like as like I said, it may be quieter earlier. YOu would think PH would have taken note and just turned it down a tad by now!!

We've gone there for lunch a few times and think it's pretty good. We usually get a burger/turkey club or ribs. The entire family really enjoys it.

Good - Memorabilia. Food is decent.

Bad - Servers are rude. Customers are stuffed in like sardines.

Noise level doesn't bother me. All themed restaurants are like that. PH used to be my favorite place to eat at Disney. There was something very exciting about it. Then, they statred playing music videos instead of movie clips. Service started getting very poor. People started going to Rainforest Cafe (myself included), and all the steam seemed to get let out of PH's balloon.

Noisy, yes, but the BEST fried zucchini EVER!!! Kids had fun walking around recognizing things from movies they've seen...

The Bad: 1) Its a chain - a bad one at that. 2) Arnold, Sly and Bruce founded it. 3) Its a chain.

The Good: can't think of one if you paid me....oh wait, they do pay me with those useless vouchers I get w/ my package, and I still can't think of "the good"

We USED to have one in Chicago and believe ONCE was enough. Then for kicks, tried the one in Vegas as Ceasar's....stilll bad. There is no way that they will sucker me 3 times.
