plane tickets??

so i cant afford to buy my plane tickets all at once..me and my mother and my 10 year old daughter are going in february...can i buy mine say this month and then my moms next month...how will that affect seating and stuff ...

It depends on the airline and how crowded the planes are. We purchased tickets for me, dh and dd1 in march on JetBlue. We just purchased a ticket for dd2 last week because she just became a part of our family. We were able to link the reservations and select four seats together. But our flights are pretty empty right now. I actually did widow aisle window aisle in hopes of the elusive empty middle seat

so there is a chance i get the ticket for myself and then wait a few weeks to get the others and the flight may be sold out?? i guess maybe i will just save the money and when i get it all buy them together

This is just my opinion but I would wait until you can at least buy yours and your 10 year olds together. Sometimes planes do fill up (at least they do out of my airport - ATL) and it would be no fun if she has to take a seperate flight than you.

As far as seating, unless you are flying Southwest, I would think it would make it harder to select seats together too if you buy the tickets seperately. Although I guess if you pay for an aisle or window seat in advance, you have a good chance of getting at least being able to get the middle seat if you get your DD's ticket later so you could sit with your 10 year old at least.

If you are flying Southwest, pay for EBCI for each ticket and you'd be fine getting seats together I would think.

It's possible that could happen, but another scenario is that you buy your ticket now and then the price goes up before you buy the additional tickets. At that point you're pretty much stuck buying the other tickets at whatever price. With a few exceptions (SWA and Jet Blue, for example) your original ticket would be non-refundable and you only would get a credit for use on a future flight less a $150 change fee. With SWA and Jet Blue, you still would get just a credit--not an actual refund--but at least there wouldn't be a change fee.

If you do go ahead with your original plan and the airline you are flying has assigned seats, you may or may not be able to get seats together. If you book SWA, that's less of an issue as they don't have assigned seats.

If you're going during President's week (or any common school vacation time), tickets will sell faster and prices will go up quicker. I agree that if you can buy 2 together and select a window and an aisle seat, there's a good chance the middle seat will still be available when you book the 3rd ticket.
