Plaid CM uniform question

Daughter and I were in Downtown Disney tonight. There were a TON of CM wearing the plaid. What exactly do they do? Also, most of them were wearing the typical plaid vest, however we saw a couple that had a white shirt with plaid accents on the shoulders, or another that was a white shirt with a plaid stripe up the back (didn't see the front). What's the difference.

I told my daughter someone here would know :-)

They give the VIP tours. We love our plaids! Glad to see them back to work!

That's what I read online, but there were a ton at DTD just observing, wandering, etc. Often, but not always in pairs. Definitely not giving tours. We ate at Uva and saw one female walk by probably 4 times while we were there.

They work in Guest Relations and have been out in force in the Parks, greeting guests...answering questions..really helping out in any way they can right now.

Everyone we saw was very friendly. We can't wait to actually go in the parks tomorrow.

You will also see them in the parks (at least pre-COVID) at the help kiosks throughout the park for people with questions Or problems.

My understanding from talking to our VIP guides in the past is that they have a variety of different plaid uniform pieces that they can wear to work, depending on the weather, their personal taste etc, as long as they meet the guidelines. So they are not always all dressed identically but they will have plaid on somewhere.

Thanks! We didn't know if some were in training or what. Appreciate the info.

White plaids simply are wearing a summer version. With the white the can wear shorts. All guest relations wear plaid whether they are in lost and found or VIP guides. They have been in DTD to help with questions and making sure people understand masks have to cover the nose.

Also, plaids will escort celebrities and other people that might impact normal operations just by being there around the parks to help minimize any negative impacts.
