Places you can't bring yourself to book

For me:

1. Tony's - too many bad reviews
2. Any character meal for lunch or dinner - just too many other better options for those meals
3. Sci Fi or Mama Melrose - 50's PT is our "go to" table service lunch place in the Studios
4. The Wave - restaurant looks like it was built inside a hotel conference room
5. Swan or Dolphin restaurants - afraid they won't be kid friendly
6. Victoria & Alberts - too expensive (and kids aren't allowed)
7. Any place not unique to WDW (e.g., Planet Hollywood, Rainforest Cafe, etc.)
8. 'Ohana breakfast (or any skillet-based breakfast) - too heavy and greasy for our tastes
9. Tutto Italia - we're too hooked on Via Napoli
10. Resturant Marrakesh - just seems a bit too exotic
11. Nine Dragons - too many mediocre reviews
12. Rose & Crown - seems like it would be heavy and greasy
13. Tokyo Dining - we're too hooked on Teppan Edo
14. Captain's Grille - just seems kind of meh compared to other options in the area
15. Boardwalk Restaurants not named Flying Fish (e.g., ESPN Club, etc.) - same as with Captain's Grille

V&A for us. DW is strictly a meat & potatoes person and will eat nothing that comes from water. I don't mind spending money on nice meals but the tab at V&A could come close to our grocery budget for a month.

FYI I thought that about the wave, then I went there, in my whole 14 day dining plan it was the best food I ate, and my partner agreed. Yes no real atmosphere but sometimes in Disney a quiet, great food meal is worth its weight in gold!

Tony's- Went on our first trip, service and food was horrible. 50's- Don't like the meals. Biergarten- Doesn't look appealing at all. Akershus- same as Biergarten
Victoria and Albert's- Too much $. Hollywood and Vine- food is terrible. LTT- hubby got sick once after we ate there, so no go around again..but I love the Ooey Gooey Toffee dessert.

CRT - None of us are huge character people, and we aren't into princesses. So it seems like a lot of money. I did do King Stephan's Banquet Hall when I was a kid. However, just like Tony's, I will eventually have to hit it if I want to get the Golden Spoon. I don't think it's going away anytime soon. At least you get to see the inside of the castle.

Teppan Edo- from what I have seen in reviews and descriptions it doesn't come close to the amazing hibachi restaurants that we have eaten at outside of WDW, and for a much better price.

We did book it once. DS liked the show, but even he, at age 6, thought Benihana was better. We haven't been back since. Tokyo Dining on the other hand is a different story. Their sushi is pretty good.

Rainforest for me. I went at the recommendation of my girlfriend's sister. I don't know why I listened to her, because she's a vegetarian who actually thinks Panda Express is the best Chinese food on the planet. I don't have a problem with her being a vegetarian, but I do have a problem with her actually going out of her way for steam table Chinese food. My only issue with her being vegetarian is that I'm a very meat-and-potatoes guy, which she's totally not, so our tastes in food don't mesh very well. Everything she's ever recommended I didn't like, and Rainforest was no exception.

Now, the food at RFC is, for lack of a better term, totally unremarkable. As in, I can not make any remarks about the food. It's that forgettable.

Any table service at Epcot. Would love to try all of them, but I just love eating around the world- and that provides a lot of variety and freedom.

Trail's End. Keep wanting to try it, but just too remote and too "ordinary." I grew up in Tennessee and lived in Texas, so food and atmosphere like that is not very special (though it always smells wonderful when we visit The Fort).

Victoria and Albert's. Just can't justify the cost, given that I do not have particularly refined taste.

Liberty Tree Tavern. I actually book it and keep canceling every trip. Just hard to go to Disney and eat home style. I was lucky enough to get that kind of food very often as a child, and still get it every so often now when I visit Mom or her family, so it just doesn't seem that special now.

Diamond Horseshoe. For same reasons as above. No interest in paying over $30 a plate for something I can make easily and cheaply at home.

50's Prime Time. The concept sounds really fun, but again, it's food I get fairly regularly. Don't really get excited about meatloaf or pot roast because they are such "regular" foods for us. Plus, DD loves Sci Fi and always wants to eat there.

Be our Guest for dinner, we've booked the last two years and cancelled. I love the atmosphere and want to meet the Beast but the food doesn't jump out to us
We do try to book at least 3 or so new restaurants each year, it's how we find new faves. But we always have our staples too

I know how you feel! I'd like to get the Golden Spoon, too, but Diamond Horseshoe? Maybe it will close again.

We enjoyed Tony's. Cute atmosphere, and not nearly as bad as the reviews made it out to be.

We also really enjoyed the food at CRT when we were there last. Definitely worth doing at least once. I like watching the carousel from the windows.

Don't cancel BOG next time. It is lovely for dinner. It is one of my favorites on property. I love the food, but the atmosphere for dinner is worth the cost. I'm sure you can find something worth eating.

The signatures are hard for us, too. I'm not much of a foodie, and I have younger kids, so hard to justify the cost. We have done CG twice because it is so awesome to watch the fireworks, but most of the signatures have not been checked off my bucket list yet.

Agreed, but never thought of "not" trying it as we were big fans right after it opened. Loved the sustainable fish options they had at the time. Maybe not the most Disneyish atmosphere but clean, laid back, great service and great food. We eat here frequently for breakfast and dinner.

Quite frankly, the OP listed MANY restaurants and many mentioned on that extensive list are quite good, too bad they don't know what they are missing out on.

Trails End is actually one of our favorite buffets and far from "ordinary" (love the salmon there) ...we don't even eat the fried chicken! Yes it's homestyle but has a lot of other options and many that aren't on other Disney restaurant buffets. Love the desserts, the s'mores bars are to die for!!

We love Trails End. I love fried chicken and don't think that most restaurants do a good job. Trails End does.

As for restaurants we never make it to....

'Ohana - keep cancelling but someday we'll go again! (Maybe. )

Le Cellier - not worth the cost

Character meals - did several when DS was young and we don't care for the hectic atmosphere now

Most signatures - there are exceptions but usually they seem like too much trouble and cost

We book what we want; we generally don't "not book" based on things like in the OP's list.

That said, Via Napoli was atrocious with heinous service, so we won't be going back there.

I disagree, but even if it did, who cares? The food is AMAZING.

I take it you are lucky enough to dine at those places regularly? It made sense to avoid RFC when we had one near us; but that one closed, so now RFC might as well be a unique place to Disney. And T-Rex only has one other location in the country (last I checked), and it's nowhere near us, so again, it might as well be unique.

So does that mean you have breakfast for character meals? to me that's a huge waste of money. We like breakfast, but not THAT much. And the only character meal we go to anymore is Tusker House, because of the FOOD, and the good food is definitely lunch/dinner food there.

My only issue with her being vegetarian is that I'm a very meat-and-potatoes guy, which she's totally not, so our tastes in food don't mesh very well. Everything she's ever recommended I didn't like, and Rainforest was no exception.

However, there is literally ONE thing on the menu at RFC that is naturally vegetarian (the veggie burger, which is disgusting in my family's opinion), so it's hardly a vegetarian-friendly place. And there are only a few dishes they can change to be vegetarian, so really it's a meat-eater's paradise there.

Cinderella's Royal Table- while I want to eat in the castle the cost does not seem worth it to me.

Tusker House- I want to do the ROL package but personally am not a fan of buffets.
