Places you can't bring yourself to book

However, there is literally ONE thing on the menu at RFC that is naturally vegetarian (the veggie burger, which is disgusting in my family's opinion), so it's hardly a vegetarian-friendly place. And there are only a few dishes they can change to be vegetarian, so really it's a meat-eater's paradise there.

Knowing her, that's probably the best thing she's ever eaten...

Trails End is actually one of our favorite buffets and far from "ordinary" (love the salmon there) ...we don't even eat the fried chicken! Yes it's homestyle but has a lot of other options and many that aren't on other Disney restaurant buffets. Love the desserts, the s'mores bars are to die for!!

Have a look at my photos here - Trails End Restaurant Photos

I've heard great things about it. I looked at your photos and they do look good. They actually look a lot like dinner at my mom's house (minus the buffet ice). She even uses similar serving dishes and pots. Cornbread and chili and vegetable soup and salad and chicken and beans and vegetables- that is a very southern (and sometimes western) meal.

And I love dinner at my mom's house. It just seems like it is not a place I want to go when I am at Disney because it is so much like home.

I thought the same thing about Hoop Dee Doo. While it was fun and the food was good, I don't really have any need to go back. I was born and raised in East Tennessee and we had (and still have) restaurants and shows like that all over the place. I actually worked in one when I was in high school. I adore East Tennessee and the food and restaurants, but when I am at Disney, I want something I can't find at home. That is probably why my favorite restaurants are places like Sanaa and BOG and California Grill. Nothing like those in my neck o' the woods. :)

Be our Guest.... I am not paying that much for Disney's so so fast food.
Le Cellier. I have been ripped off there enough... NEVER AGAIN!
Liberty Tree Traven. I can reheat frozen food at home and it's better!

CRT - I really want to eat in the castle, but it is so expensive. We are doing the deluxe Dining Plan this year and so I was going to try it, but then when I looked at the menus I decided it really wasn't worth 2 credits and booked other signatures instead.

FYI I thought that about the wave, then I went there, in my whole 14 day dining plan it was the best food I ate, and my partner agreed. Yes no real atmosphere but sometimes in Disney a quiet, great food meal is worth its weight in gold!
I agree. Although it is "just" a restaurant, with no real theming, we have always had a good meal there.

Any signatures. We're not real fancy at Disney anyways and then add in the expense/extra credit and we've just never done it.

Via Napoli - While the food looks good and we've thought about it many times, it just won't fit our eating style since you can't share meals on the dining plan. I suppose sometime we may go and order a pizza out of pocket, but I'm not sure if that would work for everyone and honestly I can pay out of pocket cheaper at the Plaza, which we really enjoy.

We try to eat at every place at least once instead of relying on reviews, you just never know until you try it. Having said that, we don't do character meals since my son is now an adult. We didn't really do them a lot when he was a kid, he didn't like having them come up to him when he was trying to eat. I don't do buffets, I'm not a big meal eater, I eat lots of smaller meals a day so buffets are a waste of money for me. There are a lot of places that have been one and done for us but we try to get to all of them. BOG was two and done, we did breakfast and we did lunch (two different trips) and it just didn't live up to all the hype for the price for us. We tend to stay away from Sunshine Seasons at Epcot unless we aren't real hungry, there are just too many food options at WS for us to eat at a food court. We also don't eat at resort food courts very often, I'll grab a kids breakfast platter every once in a while and if we are back at the resort late and forgot to eat supper, we might grab something but otherwise, again, too many other great options in the parks and at the resort TS restaurants for us to do the mad crush of people at food courts.

FWIW, we have had some of our best Disney meals at Captain's Grille. It doesn't look like much but the food was really really good.

I disagree, but even if it did, who cares? The food is AMAZING.
I agree! Food at the Wave is very good. And i actually kinda like the atmosphere.

So does that mean you have breakfast for character meals? to me that's a huge waste of money. We like breakfast, but not THAT much. And the only character meal we go to anymore is Tusker House, because of the FOOD, and the good food is definitely lunch/dinner food there. :)
Although its not a waste of money to someone like myself who happen to love breakfast buffets/character breakfasts. :) When doing character meals, I actually prefer breakfast over lunch or dinner. Nothing like starting out your day at a character breakfast. Plus consider the fact that breakfast is generally cheaper than lunch/dinner...its a winner when paying OOP. I agree, Tusker has great food. But i prefer breakfast for sure. Lunch is good too but honestly i wasn't as impressed with it as i was with breakfast. Meh, to each their own i guess. ;)

9. Tutto Italia - we're too hooked on Via Napoli
Im very hooked on Via. Haven't been to Tutto in years, since via opened actually. I find it hard to pass up via since i do love their pizza AND pasta dishes. :goodvibes

Boma--I want to give it another try because it's so well liked here, but everything tasted like it was doused in cinnamon when we were there so I hated most of the food I tried.
The Wave--If only it had windows.
Via Napoli--I can get that kind of pizza and food at home for far less money.
Tony's--Again, high quality Italian is available at home.

Any of the signature restaurants, due to cost.
50's Prime Time - I'm not sure if the interaction would be charming, or annoy me.
Tony's - past experience was horrible.
Nine Dragons - not a fan of Chinese and can eat it at home.

Coral Reef: The concept seems so cool--to be eating so close to the aquarium. But I've heard so many bad reviews of it. We don't eat seafood--which wouldn't necessarily be a deal breaker, because there are some non-seafood items on the menu, but the bad reviews really turn me off.

Most of the character meals: My kids are older now anyway, but even when they were young they didn't really appeal to me. I'm not a fan of buffets anyway. We did enjoy Garden Grill a lot.

Victoria and Alberts: Oh I really WANT to go here, but I'm afraid! It's a set menu, right? With seafood? Yeah, we don't eat seafood. I imagine they can probably make substitutions, but would that ruin the whole experience--that they have this awesome expertly designed dining experience and then have to change parts of it?

I think I'm open to trying just about anything else.

Tonys: I have been scared for years because of the reviews. I am happy to eat Italian food at home. No need to risk a bad Italian meal at WDW.

Up until last year we avoided Coral Reef because of the reviews. I finally went alone with DS10 because I knew he would love the tank and he LOVED it. My food was fine. It was worth it alone for the tank. We are headed back next month for the tank.

Victoria & Alberts is AMAZING. For anyone who loves fine dining, this is an experience not to be missed.

10. Resturant Marrakesh - just seems a bit too exotic

The last time I ate there, I felt the food wasn't hot enough. Everything was sort of lukewarm. I'm sure it was probably a fluke and it was tasty, but it was a one and done for me. I prefer the Tangierine Cafe anyway, which is my solo tradition.

So many places for many reasons. Just about any place that is sea food centric. I live on the west coast of FL. 7 miles from the gulf so fresh good seafood is here all the time w/o Disney pricing.
V&A - a bit too fancy and costly
Le Cellier - $$$
Portofino (before it closed for change). Worst food in WDW in my opinion. We sent it back and left so I don't think I'll ever go back there.
RFC - just ick. The food is way over priced and horrible.
Bongos - menu just doesn't appeal to me.
Teppan - Rather go down the street to Crossroads center and go to Kobe's.
CRT or Akershus - $ no apposed to character meals but not at these prices with lackluster reviews.
Citricos - $

We stay away from counter service all together unless we are at Disney Springs or some of the resorts. For a few bucks more, I'd rather be served and eat with real tableware and flatware.
And I will also chime in about The Wave - you are missing a hidden gem as far as food is concerned. I can deal with a little bit bland because everything else at WDW is so over the top especially when I am getting great service at a good price with excellent food.

For me:

4. The Wave - restaurant looks like it was built inside a hotel conference room
10. Resturant Marrakesh - just seems a bit too exotic.
11. Nine Dragons - too many mediocre reviews.
14. Captain's Grille

4. SO agree. Have eaten here twice, the food ranged from blah to mediocre, and the atmosphere does NOTHING for me.

10. Nothing exotic, honestly. Boring, really.

11. Best meal we have eaten at WDW. Didn't try it till our last trip - #27 or so? It was REALLLLLY good.

14. It was meh.

Cinderella's Royal Table- while I want to eat in the castle the cost does not seem worth it to me.

Tusker House- I want to do the ROL package but personally am not a fan of buffets.

We did it for my daughters 16th birthday. Food was ok. Atmosphere was amazing. Lots of princesses. My 4 year old enjoyed it more. Ha! So, did it once and done.

Tony's and italian food just shouldn't be in the same sentence.

Coral Reef we liked, but also tank watching made it more fun!
