These increases actually scare me more then gas. School bussing. Grocery costs, furniture, postal costs, etc.
My dh and I have our own hvac business. The current IRS deduction for auto expenses is not going to cut it with the increase we've been paying in gas. I can only imagine how it's affecting any business with a large fleet of trucks. I definitely worry that all of these increases together could have a major impact on our economy. To prevent this, not to make it easier to fuel up I think the federal govt. needs to step in here.

Were they gonna dig into the reserves we have here to help out?
Really surprised that gas prices didn't go up sooner...Figured the price would shoot up as soon as the hurricane was in the gulf...

This reminds me a lot of the '70's, and our economy survived that timeframe and thrived afterwards. I think we'll be OK long term, but it is going to hurt in the short term. I'm more worried about heating fuel costs for folks in the colder states. I know how much we were paying for natural gas in MA 2 years ago, and it has way more than doubled per BTU since then :( I worry about my friends there who are barely making ends meet as it is. I don't want to hear about people dying because they can't afford heat :(

We run a small company that produces organic fertilizer, and our shipper has been raising the gas sur-charge almost daily. started out at 10%, not it's at 16% and rising. We pass it on to retailers, what do you think they do with it???
Every single thing you buy in the stores gets shipped, and the price is allways passed along to you, wether you know it or not.

On a personal note, we just put in 2 tons of wood pellets for the winter, I just hope it's enough. Certainly can't afford heating oil. Hope it's a mild winter, or many people here in the North East may be in trouble.

My husband gave the pizza delivery guy a huge tip. He used to deliver pizzas and he knows they work for tips and now so much more of it will be going to fill their tank.

We just cancelled the WDW trip we were planning for May. Our budget just couldn't support it with gas prices, and we know other things are going to get much more pricey in the next couple of months. It's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.
