Places to Stay near Columbia SC for drive down ?

Hi,

We are driving down to the world in late August. Our second day we would like to stop near Columbia SC. Do any of you know of a good budget hotel (clean with a pool) that we could spend the night.

You can alway depend on Hampton Inn, with your CAA card you'll have a discount.

They're almost always an outdoor pool.

And you'll have a deluxe continental breakfast for free!

There are a myriad of motel options on Two Notch Road, right off the 77, in Columbia. I just hate to give a suggestion because everyone's idea of cheap and clean is different. Lots of dining options as well. Plus, there is a Walmart and a dollar store a couple of clicks down the highway, Forest Drive???, just in case you want to pick something up.

There is a Microtel on that road (Two Notch). I like the chain b/c it is indoor corridors at a reasonable price. If it is a room for two they are very small. I don't mind at all but others do. Sometimes the pool is indoor, sometimes out. Can't remember at this location.

I just did a search. There is a Hampton Inn on Two Notch Road......

I'll chime in for Two Notch road as well, but we stayed twice at the Sleep Inn (or maybe it was Quality Inn) - nice rooms, it's right beside the I-77, so easy on and off - my best advice is to stop at the South Carolina Welcome Centre, no matter what time it is, and pick up the motel/hotel coupon book - we always get a room for around $49-$54 per night with the coupons at decent places.

I don't know about hotels but, I know that the Columbia Mall is REALLY nice. So, if your looking for shopping, that mall is GREAT!
