I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on places to sit with a napping baby. DS usually takes one nap during the day and I'd like to find a nice place to sit and relax with him (instead of just putting him in a stroller).
I was thinking that in EPCOT there is a/c area by club cool (where they have character signings sometime) but can't think of anywhere else. Also wondering about nice spots in MK.
It's funny b/c I've been so many times but am drawing a blank on this. I guess that's what happens when you are normally focused on riding LOL

TIA :)

I have thought about this too b/c my son is a napper, he can sleep anywhere!

In MK:

* On the People Mover (Transit Authority)
* On the Railroad
* On Tom Sawyer's Island
* In the Baby Care Center
* Under the shade (on a bench or on ground) at Pooh's Playful Spot
* On the Monorail

In EPCOT:

* An empty hallway (section) in Innoventions
* Spaceship Earth
* Ellen's Energy Adventure
* ride Mexico ride over & over again
* Bench's in France
* The garden area in the UK
* One of the little sections around the lagoon, off the main walkways, there are benches, some by Mexico, Italy, Morrocco, etc.
* Ride the Land Ride
* Benches inside the land where people wait on the Garden Grill
* A spot on the floor in the Seas Aquarium (if it's not too crowded)

MGM:

* Near Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground
* One of the outside tables at the many eateries
* baby care center?? (haven't been in that one...)

AK:

* Baby care center is the BEST, they have private little rooms with rocker gliders for nursing, but I used it once for DS a nap cause the place was empty, the whole place is very spacious and clean though....
* The covered bridge down by the Lion King show, we sat on the ground of the bridge cause it was empty down there, but there are benches near by too
* There are lots of places where you could find a spot to sit in the shade, either a bench or just a nice open spot on a wall, or the ground.
* There is a nice "secluded" bench right behind the snack cart that is next to the Tough to be a Bug entrance....very nice and cool.
* On a bench by the waterfall of the Rainforest Cafe
* Bench or spot on the Maharajah Jungle Trek

The back way from Tommorrowland to Mickey's Toontown fair can be a quiet place.

Each of the parks has a baby care center that is air conditioned. I used them last year for the same purposes you need, they were very quiet and clean.

My kids always napped best on slow moving rides. Try to pick the longer rides so they have more time to sleep. The Ellen/dinosaur one in Epcot is a good one. Actually, even though it isn't airconditioned, my son fell asleep three years in a row on the safari ride in AK. Maybe it was all the bumps?

My favorite MK napping place (ESPECIALLY if it is really hot out) is in the photography building (can't remember the official name) - just in the gates to the right - in the same building as you enter for Tony's Restaurant. Walk past the store area with film, etc - and there are photography antiques and way in the back there is a movie screen playing old movies. There are seats for mom/dad to sit in and most of the time - it is pretty quiet back there.

Thanks everyone :) Those are great spots

Tom Sawyer Island! It's quiet and there are wooden rocking chairs overlooking the river.

mmmmmmmmmmmmm. ... back at the hotel room???? we took our kids back every day for an afternoon break. they, and we, were much more refreshed and ready for a fun evening.

We probably won't be leaving the hotel room until about 9:30 and he naps every day around 11. If we did that, we would have to turn around almost as soon as we got to whatever park we were hitting that day :)
He'll most likely just sleep in the stroller but sometimes he wants to cuddle/take a bottle to sleep which is why I was looking for little semi out of the way places

Personally, my family never returns to the hotel for naps. I just can't bear all that wasted time in transit and at the hotel. Especially since there are so many more beautiful places to rest than within the four walls of a hotel room. (IMHO.)

My kids have been going to DW since they were infants and we always find places to nap in the parks. The long list that was posted above is SPOT ON. Ditto Tom Sawyers Island.

My toddlers napped during parades, any show at MGM, on the transportation busses, and while waiting in line. Fortunately, my kids are three years apart, so while the older one was doing a height restricted ride with Parent #1, the younger could wait and nap with Parent #2 in the shade. We tend to eschew the hassle of strollers, so we take turns snuggling the sleeper.

A day at Typhoon Lagoon offers the most napping opportunities. We use this day as our "rest day" between busy days. My babies would take long peaceful naps while floating in the lazy river for HOURS. I have a wonderful photograph of my 14 month old daughter, napping on my chest as we floated down the river.

My husband and I fondly remember our daughter sleeping on my shoulder through most of her first DW trip.

On a related subject: Thank the Wishing Star for the Baby Swap system!! It's brilliant!

In Epcot, maybe benches down by the water near some of the countries. The garden in England is beautiful and can be quiet. There are also some quiet fountains in Morocco in the shade that may be nice. Also, inside Innoventions.

In Mk, upstairs in Columbia Harbor House (near the Haunted Mansion). If it is not lunch time (or a busy season), the place is empty! I think (not sure) it might be possible to see some of the parade from the restaurant. Also, take a seat on the train...somewhere toward the middle of a row, so you don't get any sun in the eyes, and you can ride until he wakes up!

Resort transportation boat at MK. It's covered in case of rain and very relaxing! You get to see several resorts without getting out and it brings you back again.

Last year we had 18 mo old niece with us, it was end of June/beginning of July and HOT. My brother or sis in law just took her into the baby centers when she fell asleep and they would meet up with us when she woke up. It was air conditioned

I think the nap at the hotel is more for me than the kids. :headache: They play in the pool and rest watching a little TV but ... my kids all slept just about anywhere they wanted when they were little. We have 3 and they've all gone from the age of 3 months on.
I agree with Typhoon Lagoon. MY DD went to sleep every time we went on the Lazy River. We'd just keep going around until she woke up. :)

Last year when we went, my DD took a couple great naps while at Magic Kingdom. She usually fell asleep in the stroller and then we ended up going to Cosmic Rays and eating lunch outside. We ate outside on the balcony area near Storytime with Belle. Great view of everything, nice breeze and very shaded. Plus...it was just perfect for us to all spread out, relax and enjoy some down time. And it's not too loud, but not too quiet either... She took about a 45 minute to 1 hour nap each time.

In October, DD napped just whenever she wanted to. It didn't matter if we were on a ride (she slept through Pirates and The Haunted Mansion) or in the stroller.

DS, on the other hand, will not sleep like that. He also HAS to have a two hour nap, at least, for him to be able to cope until bedtime. So, we always had to go back to the room.

Unless his napping habits change drastically, we'll be doing what we did last time. Mom and dad also need the break. ;)

All excellent places!! I'm gonna have to print this off for our trip this fall!!!

I always take my little ones to a baby care center for naps, its nice and cool and quiet and I could rock them to sleep.

It was actually easier, I think, when we took him down at 3 months old because he would sleep in the carrier, in the stroller, not prob. Now he is way more interested in the world around him and, to him, the day is not long enough to see all there is to see and so all there is to do.

I'm excited about him being more interested in everything. I will have fun watching him just see stuff. :)
