Great point. Though my 18-135mm is pretty sharp its a good place to start to find which focal lenght works with my set up. In the end the 50mm f/1.8 would work perfect.

Kyle, fwiw, I found the 18-135 to work fine for this purpose, and allowed me the freedom to position the camera where needed, not where the focal length dictated. I have a fifty, too, but did not even try it. The 18-135 is *so* sharp...
