places to eat at fort wilderness

Hi we are bringing my parents down in October they love camping and would love to show them Fort Wilderness ,We thought about doing a dinner show but we would love to explore the campground any places to get the to go food from trails end and go eat? or should we do one of the show please advise me on the best options

the chicken is really good at fort wilderness, for the Trails To go, or the buffet. but I strongly suggest you book theHoop De Doo Revue. It does sel out fast, but it is All you can eat(family style) ribs and chicken, salad, rolls, corn, beans, dessert, wine beer, tips included. with a "corny" show, great fun

Hoop De Do is really alot of fun - and does book out so make reservations. Trails End is the buffet and is good. Haven't been to the Backyard BarbeQue so don't know much about that. You can also go over to VWL and eat there and just take the boat over to the campgrounds.

I'd also recommend Hoop de Doo ... It's still going strong year after year for a good reason.

You could also do a picnic meal. Trails End has the 'Giddyup and Go' meal at the TO GO counter. It's 10 pieces of fried chicken with biscuits and 2 sides (mac & cheese, fries, beans, mashed potatoes etc) I think they have picnic tables outside where you could eat around the Pioneer Hall area.

Another vote for the Hoop de do. Haven't done the BBQ, but loved the food and show with HDD. We all laughed so hard...

Trail's End is our must-do dinner every trip. The food is great, and the same as the Hoop-De-Doo, but about 1/3 the price.

I would suggest to spend the money and rent a golf cart and then spend an evening there. Dinner at Trail's End, then over to the campfire for the Chip n Dale sing-along, watch some of the movie or explore the Meadows area, play some shuffleboard. Then by 9:00 go down to the beach, watch Wishes from the beach with a nice beverage from Crockett's Tavern, then the Water Electrical Pageant at 9:45. Can't beat it!

There's also a hay ride in a wagon for $8 for an adult, or a private carriage ride through the Fort for around $60 (not sure of the price).

The Fort is really awesome for a fun, relaxed evening. It's a classic.

We were pleasantly surprised by Trail's End buffet last trip. Great sweet tea, pretty good chicken, corn. Desserts were yummy too. And still a good deal. We were also stuffed by the end!
