Will be checking into DIsney's Vero Beach next Sunday for our first time. Does anyone have any recomendations regarding great places to eat as well as any malls nearby?

When you check in, you'll get a sheet that has places of local interest, including restaurants. We chose Squid Lips and the guest services person at VB printed out directions for us. We've also eaten at Captain Hiram's many times. We've enjoyed meals at both places, but based on what we had at Squid Lips last week, that's our favorite. On Thursday, they had local entertainment, Trilogy, and they were very good.

Another vote for Capt. Hirams - we love it!!!

There is also a little hole in the wall pizza place that has pizza and subs just down the street- I think it's called Orchid Island Pizza?? They only take cash and we love it.

Oh yes, we enjoyed an Orchid Island Pizza last week as well!

THEE absolute, positive best place to eat in Vero is the Ocean Grill.
It's a bit pricey, and may not be the best for kids. There may also be a wait for a table.
Bottom line: For a nice adult dinner, when the adults don't mind having a drink at the bar while they wait for a table, there is no better place than the Ocean Grill.

There are other great places in VB for adults. The Tides, and Bobby's come to mind, but none are quite as good as the Ocean Grill. :smokin:

Yes, they will give you a 'places of interest' sheet that does include maps BUT also ask at the front desk for the binder filled with menus. My DH and I found several great menus in that binder and the front desk printed off directions to every restaurant that we wanted to eat at. We also ate on property and I would recommend eating at Shutter's at least once. You can also eat at the bar (which is absolutly beautiful at night).

I think it was called Eagle's Nest or something like that. It is actually the restaurant connected to the Sebastian Golf Course near the Sebastian airport where the sky divers take off. Well, nothing fancy but they are known for their Prime Rib which was pretty good...seems like an older crowd but they are very friendly and very kid friendly. Prices are very, very reasonable. Of course Capt Hiram's and Ocean Grill are great too!

Orchid Island Pizza does deliver to the lobby as well, but is quick walk right next door to the resort. It is a thin crust NY (city) style pizzia with lots of topping choices.

Last spring we ordered a pizzia, had it delivered (we were staying in the Inn) and had a picnic on the beach! :goodvibes

Has anyone tried Mo Bay Grill in Sebastian? I came across their web site with I was googling around VB area. It sounds like an interesting choice...

I like seafood but my DH is a vegetarian and unfortunately seafood restaurants tend to be the worst at having vegetarian options. Any suggestions to take a vegetarian and a couple of kids (11 & 6)??

My son and his wife loved Ocean Grill when they went last month. They also enjoyed drinks and appetizers at Driftwood. We are going in Oct. and are trying to keep a running list of all the restuarants that get good reviews around Vero.
