placemat weaving

I found a box with looms for making placemats. coasters, etc. with yarn. The problem is I can't remember how to put the yarn on the loom, and the directions were not with the looms. Anyone have any clue what I'm talking about and how to get started. Thanks.

I'll try to remember the only thing I don't remember is how to end it. All you have to do is stretch a bands across from one side to another till you have it covered. Then take a band and weave in and out till you reach the ends and hook each side to the end points. Keep weaving a bands till every point is covered. Does that make sends. I hope someone else remembers how to finish it off.

To finish it off you need a crochet hook. All you do is take the ends of the loops off the frame one by one as you crochet around the outside edge of the placemat. You use the ends of the loops as your "yarn" to make a basic crochet chain.

Thanks for the information you shared, but this is the wrong type of loom. The one I have you use regular yarn and tie it on the starting point, then you wrap it somehow(this is what I forget how to do) around the different pegs. The looms are octogon. If anyone else has any ideas I'd appreciate it.

I have one of these looms. I had a wonderful time making placemats and coasters for Christmas presents one year. It is now stored in the basement. I will see if I can find it. I think that I still have the directions with it.
