We plan on stopping for the night somewhere between Jacksonville and St. Augustine. Has anyone got any experience with any campgrounds in the area. Looking for some suggestions. Thanks

Don't have any recommendations between Jax & St. Augustine but there is a State Park (Anastasia) at St. Augustine Beach.

I don't know anything past jacksonville.. I think dh has it planned for us to stay at pecan park near jacksonville this year!

Look at Faver Dykes State Park. It's just south of the St. Augustine exit and close to 95. I've stayed before and it's nice.

There's a KOA right past Jacksonville. I've stayed there only once, and it was tent camping some years ago, but from what I remember it was pretty nice.

Right before Jacksonville there is a place called Flamingo Lake....it is not too far from the Pecan Park one. I've never personally stayed there, but my aunt and uncle go there all the time and love it. The Pecan Park one is really just a flea market.

We always stay at either the Fam-Camp at NAS Jax (retired military) or the Jacksonville or St. Augustine KOA the night before we check in at the FW. All are fine for overnight. BTW the pic in my sig is of the site we stayed at NAS Jax in Dec 2007 on our way to FW.

Theres a KOA at SR 210 and 95 ( also a TA truck stop there ).There are several campgrounds here in St. Augustine that are easy to access from the interstate but about 15 min away from it.Also a KOA on the beach ( pope road if you look online ) These are at the south end of St. Augustine and near the beach. They will all put you about 1:45 - 2 hours from the fort. If you don't find something and you want PM me and I can give send you some more info ( names, numbers ).favor Dykes is real convienent to I-95 as Donnie said but, I have never stayed there.I don't know what type of place your looking for ( just a place to sleep or beach access etc ).I can think of 7 or 8 right off.Actually, I haven't stayed at any of them here ( gotta camp more than a mile or so from the house ) but, I know people that have.

I'm pretty sure that KOA at 210 and 95 has been gone for a while. They sold it for home development. Let's destroy everything and build more homes era lol. Faver Dykes is a cool place.

Sorry to hijack your post, but I see some locals here and I was wondering where you guys would recommend near JAX Beach. We want to visit a friend for a few days on the way to the fort and need a place to hook up. Last time we stayed at Hanna Park and it was OK and close to JAX Beach. Is there any other place you would recommend?
Thanks,
Sue

From the St. Augustine Side there is North Beach Camping Resort. It's a nice wooded park north of St. Augustine on the beach. I'm not sure of the prices but I know people that swear by it. You would be about 15-20 min from Jax beach I believe ( I've driven it but I never paid attention to the time ).
North of that will have to be someone else...

That sounds like that area, I have never wanted to camp THAT close to the interstate and/or a truckstop so I havn't paid much attention:lmao: . Are there hookups in Favor Dykes, I thought it was dry camping..

There's actually an RV Park in Jax Beach but it has a lot of full timers in it. Hanna is probably you're best bet. If you want info on the other place let me know.

FD had hookups but no sewer. Dump station on the way out.

Thanks for the suggestions. I got a spot for June 7th at Anastasia SP for the night. It was the last one available that would fit my camper. That will work out great because if I get there early enough the kids can go play on the beach for a little while and burn off some of the travel energy that builds up if you know what I mean. Thanks again.
