My DD and I (her mom) have definitely decided that we want a seating chart at her reception. But neither of us have been to a wedding that had assigned seats. So how do we go about this? I know we have to have place cards with the persons name and table number, but that's as far as I get. Too many of our family weddings, people sit in the wrong places, spread out and it's just a mess.

We're making a very detailed seating chart, and then printing our own personalized menu cards (they will have the guest name, and their own menu) that will be placed at the tables.

Our guests will have to just walk around until they find their seat. So we are skipping the escort card table altogether.

We can do this since we have a small guest list ~35 people.

Disney can also order place cards for you. Or they have personalized chocolate favors that can be printed with each guest name, and placed at their seat.

Disney did have a lot of place card ideas. the chocolate place cards are really cute. I wish I had a picture of them.

Here's a pic of what Disney sent me about chocolate favors: (Sorry it's huge)

We're using the escort cards, we'll put them on a table by the entrance along with the guest book :) Our tables are going to be characters, our colors silver, blue & white, so we're putting the YOMD small plush characters on the tables by the center pieces and each person will be sitting at either Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Donald, etc :) In the end we'll give the characters to the kids as gifts

we are doing escort cards too. We are planning to use different movies as our table themes w/ coordinating centerpieces, colored linens etc. The escort cards will have what table each guest will sit at , guest will then find specific table and their choose a seat. Each escort card will have a theme related item attached., i.e for the cinderella table, the escort cards will have glass slipper attached.I am making my own escort cards. Each table will have different (themed related) colored linens too,i.e. the Cinderella table will have light blue linens... good luck:goodvibes

I'm doing almost the exact thing with my tables, but I'm using Disney couples. Although I'm two tables short!!! What kind of things are you doing to make the centerpieces unique. I played around with this idea, but couldn't think of anything for every table!

We did escort cards and it wasn't too hard to fit everyone together. I just made a spreadsheet in excel and just had our tables names as the headers and just started listing people under the names. I just printed everyone's names and tables on placecards that I made.

I will only have four tables besides the sweetheart one, so first that makes it easier. the movies I chose to use are quasi based on our guests. The ones I plan in using are cinderella(DD favorite), toy story, jungle book and pirates of the caribbean(DD favorite). I made table cards using 5 by 7 picture frames and then created a theme related centerpiece. the escort cards are tent cards with movie image, guest name(written in coordinating color) and then table name. I put a quote like line from specific movie inside each, tied a theme related item and will add m&m in little favors bags(either inside item or attached with ribbon)-not sure this is making sense but here are some pics. all are still works in progress(have some different red floral for POTC ) but gives you the idea. I plan on using colored linens (runners or overlays not sure yet) to match the table card frames..They are all unbreakable and in total maybe cost $20.00, most for floral stems. The sweet heart table will just have mini bouquet like arrangements in votive with my bouquet and frame..:Good luck with all your plans. What couples are you using? How many tables do you have?I had also considered the little mermaid and beauty and the beast.:goodvibes

You could always tell people which table to sit at but not which seat. That way it doesn't matter who they sit next too.
