Placards and disabilities....

I have a question about Placards. I am more curious then anything. I have one for a physical disability. I have a friend who also has one for a minor child with a disability. I can see why they DMV asks for medical proof of the disability before issuing one but why can't places like Disney ask for proof? I am NOT looking for a debate, just clarification on what the difference is.

The placards are considered to be "greater" access and thus can require proof of the disability. Essentially, they allow the person with the card to have something more and separate then someone else when the ADA only asks for equal access. Any parking spot would be considered equal. By limiting who can use the disabled spots it moves beyond that.

Getting a person on a ride at Disney is only considered equal access.

I was going to say the same thing, but you answered first.

Not only does having a disabled plate or placard allow parking in spaces for disabled only, some jurisdictions also waive parking meter fees.
