We will be booking the the Pirates League for my niece and my daughter for our upcoming September trip. I like the Mermaid options for her as she is a girlie girl but the reason we aren't doing BBB is I have heard they are not very gentle with the hair. My daughter has thick curly hair that tangles easy and I had to buy a special brush just for me to brush it, will the hair for the Mermaid be rough for her or can we pass on the hair all together?

I did the PL mermaid on our last trip, I had no issues with the hair. I actually had my hair full of product to make it wavy/curly. They just twist the front lightly and put a few bobby pins and the flower clip in.

If you feel better you could skip it all together and put the clip in later by yourself.

eeek we're booking BBB for DD5. I've never heard that they're rough before!!
Has anyone else got any actual experience of this?

No. My DD5 has a very sensitive scalp and hasn't so much as flinched either time she had it done (the bun both times). And in watching, I never thought it seemed like they were being rough. :confused3:

Brilliant... I was thinking how can BBB be so popular if they're rough... I know loads of people that have been time and time again.

We're still going try, if she's uncomfortable at any point I'll ask them to stop. :thumbsup2

BBB requested we bring our own clean brush or comb, can't you bring your own if you are concerned?

If you're doing BBB I just suggest you ask them to not make it so tight. My girls did not flinch or complain at the time, but did complain within 10 minutes of leaving. They wore the hairstyle for 1/2 day and were then done with it. My oldest DD got a nickle-sized bald spot from the stress of the hair pulling showed up a month later- exactly where the bun was positioned. So it's not "rough" but the tight style can cause discomfort and stress the folicules. We are doing it again (girls loved it overall) but I'll be sure to ask them to not do it so right.

We took our daughter to BBB with absolutely no problems. She also has extremely thick, very curly hair. I detangled her hair before we left for the MK and it was fine, and trust me...she is quick to complain when it hurts. She is not a "suffer in silence type". :-). We're going again in 2 weeks and she's excited about it. Your daughter will probably be fine. Have fun!!

I was considering taking our own brushes etc anyway for two reasons; 1 Hopefully if it's familiar, they'll be less compaining & whinging. 2 Headlice. I don't dispute that Disney clean the equipment but the last thing I want to do is be running around Orlando looking for a Headlice kit and then taking DD away from the parks to do it!
