When we moved to Orlando from New York in the early 70's the first place my parents staked out was a decent Italian restaurant and pizza place. There are lots of good NY style pizza places in the area -- Boardwalk Pizza, Amelias Restaurant, Brooklyn Pizza come to mind -- but most of the ones close to WDW seem to be the typical chains. Giordanos sounds promising, though, we'll have to check it out next time we're there.

The Orlando Weekly online has a restaurant seach by cuisine and location.

Just a suggestion, but you might want to change your sig to spell EISNER correctly.

You are very right. Husband loves NY style pizza that is hard to find outside of northeast apparently. No Deep Dish for him!

I'm with your husband. I find Pizzeria Uno pizza to be repulsive!

Anyone know of a place that will deliver NY style pizza to WDW resorts?

Last Oct for our trip I found a thread that had all the local places and phone numbers that would deliver. For the life of me I can't find it. Most were chains but not all. We used Pizza Hut and they came right to the door. It was great!! If I can find it I'll post it here.

Found it. We used Pizza Hut for delivery at CBR. They said they would call when they got to the front, but he actually called already in the Resort. Just needed to know what section we were in. Came right to the door.

I'm managing editor for a national pizza trade magazine (yes, there is one, and yes, it is the BEST job in the whole world). Famous Famigilia is opening a location the The Crossroads center across the street from DTD's entrance and is NY style. I'm not sure if it's open yet or not.

I did a story on NYPD in 2004 and it was pretty good. They have an interesting theme that is nice for the police fans in your family. I also did a story on Papa Joe's, but they're more north of the Kissimmee/LBV area.

Giordano's is franchised, but the original, like Pizzerias Uno and Due, is located in Chcago. The franchised versions of Chicago-style pizza are a bit different (most Americans don't want to wait for the bake time for a true deep dish, and Chicago-style pizza is definitely an acquired taste because it is so different). But that will give you your Chicago fix.

NY-style pizza is limited in the immediate WDW area.Wolfgang Puck has a decent gourmet pizza, and I like the spicy BBQ chicken pizza at Rainforest Cafe (athough I'd rather get the Bama wrap).

We are originally from N.J. and I can relate to your DH wanting a "New York Style Pizza".
It took us about 6 years before we found a place out here in Colorado that makes a great pizza. We will be at the World in June and hope to find a good pizza in the area also. Good luck to your DH. Sounds like he has good taste.

Please tell me where! I am new to the Broomfield area (spent 20 something years in Fort Collins), and grew up on the East Coast with great pizza and grinders.

Maybe we should have just gone to NY on vacation sounds like it would be easier to get a pizza that way than to find any kind of good pizza in Disney area (from the looks of these posts!)

I'll email the owners (the Kolaj family) tomorrow and find out. It's a franchise unit, but they should know. It's pretty good stuff. I've had it in Times Square...thin-crust and pretty good.

And if yuh evah come to Tallahassee, check out Momo's Pizza near campus - thin crust, huge pie, real I-talian sausage -- fuggedaboutit!

I'm intimidated to post on this thread since I have lived in the Midwest my entire life. However, my husband is from NY. We both thought the pizza from the Spoodles walk up window was good. It's thin crust, not deep dish.
There are tables on the Boardwalk where you can sit and relax while eating.

Nah! Pizza's subjective. We've been quoted in newspapers, television and on the radio for our expertise in the industry, but actually, I like Papa Murphy's take-and-bake A LOT! I can have a crispy pizza in 16 minutes from my own oven and don't have to wait an hour for crappy delivery (although I admit I do order Papa John's every now and then if I can't make it to a real pizzeria).

Hey, how kid-friendly is Spoodles, BTW? I've been wanting to go someplace on the Boardwalk (we've never taken the time to go there). But we have a three-year-old in tow.

We did not eat at Spoodles TS. We only had pizza from the Spoodles take out window. (They also have salads and sandwiches). We sat on some tables on the Boardwalk near the Spoodles take out window. We ate around 2:30pm and there was hardly anyone at the Boardwalk, although the parks were packed that day. We were very relaxed and the view from the Boardwalk was beautiful. I would think it would be a great place to take a three year old. Your toddler wouldn't be bothering anyone if he/she was a little noisy, and he/she could also "explore" a little bit and not bother anyone.

You can get good pizza at the places like Portobello Yacht Club, but it is much more like California style pizza, not New York. You won't find that kind in WDW.
