Pizza Question: What Do You Call It?

I think I'm understanding your poll.

A pizza with just sauce and cheese is a "Cheese Pizza"

A pizza with just sauce, pepperoni and cheese is a "Pepperoni Pizza"

A pizza with sauce, cheese, pinaeapple and Ham is a "Hawaiiian Pizza"

Ham and Canadian Bacon are different things.... here anyway.

I have also seen a Canadian bacon and pineapple be referred to as a "Canadian Pizza"

We call a cheese pizza just a "pie" and a "pepperoni pie" the other is not a choice we have by us.

I actually have gone out for pie with friends...but it was pie. You know apple, lemon meringue, cherry etc... We have a great pie shop here in Baltimore.

the third choice=hawaiian...I don't care for that one myself!

What about a pizza with everything?? Some call it "garbage pie", some call it "the works"....I call it "with everything, no anchovies"....

If I am ordering, I will say
Hi, I'd like to order a large pie.
Sometimes I'll say a large cheese, but usually it's just "pie"

I never order an entire pizza with anything on, only a half pie, and if so it would be "Hi I need a large pie, half sausage"

Pizza always was and always will be pie. I know I've posted this before, but it's still funny to me. We're from No. Jersey.
DH moved to Nebraska not long after college with his job. Called up Pizza Hut and (begrudgingly) and asked to order a pie. They said they don't have pie and hung up on him. I think they thought he was playing a prank or something.

Oh, how I long for a good ol' pie. Meatball please!

...and who would eat it if it was. Nasty! Then again around here they have blueberry bagels, if you can imagine.

If you've never had a Hawaiian Pizza you don't know what you're missing. What about a BBQ Pizza, ever had that? And blueberry bagels are my favorite, well after cheese bagels that is.

Hawaiian.

Yup. I worked at Pizza Hut for a few years, it was Cheese, Pepperoni and Hawaiian, the BEST Hawaiian pizzas are made with ham and not canadian bacon, pineapple and even green onions can be good. We did one once with BBQ sauce instead of tomato, that was good.

I'm surprised by the number of people who seem repulsed by the idea of pineapple & ham on pizza. Sure it's a little different, but I've seen this combo since 1980. It's very good! I don't always get it because I enjoy the more tradtitional toppings too, but it's really not disgusting.

Color me confused too - but - if I were ordering the kind of pizza that I wanted it would be "a cheese pizza with green peppers, mushrooms, and onions.."

When ordering:

Pie means cheese pizza (specify a size 1st and then toppings)
Large pepperoni pie

Slice defaults to cheese if you request a topping you omit the "sloce and just say something like "2 pepperoni and a coke"

A good pizza man will know what you mean.

Ok, OP, WHY are you asking this question???

But, we say "cheese pizza" "pepperoni pizza" or "ham and pineapple". Hawaiian can be ham (or CB) and pineapple or it can have other things on it too; so you have to watch on that one.

I used to think ham and pineapple would be yucky, but it became dd's favorite and I ate it with her. It really is good from some places. Other places not so much.

Here it's pie. You call and say "may I have a large pie." Or "may I have a large pepperoni." I have never asked for a cheese pizza. I think the guys at the shop would laugh at me.

4-6: Pepperoni, because the cheese is assumed
7-9: Huh? Respectfully, I would never ORDER that combination - so if anything, I would have to call it "yuck"

Okay...your poll doesn't make sense but I think this is what you might be asking. I call a pizza with just sauce and cheese a cheese pizza....not plain. If it has pepperoni on it, I just say pepperoni pizza. A pizza with can. bacon and pineapple would be hawaiian.

My favorite pizza topping is pineapple. Just pineapple. I'm weird, but I don't like meat on pizza. The grease gets me... so I just usually order pineapple.

I voted, Cheese-Pepperoni-Hawaiian.
If I called, I don't know that I'd say pizza or pie. I'd probably just say "I need a large, half pineapple and half pepperoni." and they'd get it.
