My family has been spending a lot of time lately watching Toy Story. How is the experience at Pizza Planet at MGM?? Is the food any good? Do any characters come by?

Thanks,

David

I thouht that it was expensive for Pizza, but it's Disney, it is to be expected. I didn't really care for the food. As far as characters, I didn't see any when we were there, but that doesn't mean that they don't come. Maybe someone else will be able to tell you that.

The pizza was just okay. I can make better at the house. We got there around 11:15 and had no wait, but by 11:30 the lines were several people deep. The characters appear at Al's Toy Barn around the corner. Times should be given in the Times Guide at the gate.

To make a long review short, Pizza Planet--- ewww....

Mind you this was a long while ago but the now infamously bad pizza planet meal of 1996 is among the two worst Disney Dining expereinces I have ever had. It was bad, very very bad.

It might be worth a peek inside since it is a pretty nicely themed arcade. Then see the characters at Al's Toy Barn and lunch elsewhere.

Just my two cents...

We find the pizza to be decent, not horrible, but not the best weve ever had either. I dont know why but I really enjoy the salads there. The kids love the theming, and of course the arcade too. Weve been 3 times and have never seen any characters.

We have never seen characters there and the food is ok. The kids like the arcade but i never like spending too much time there because they can do an arcade anytime...we don't need Disney for that. :wave2:

we were there over the thanksgiving weekend. The food was ok, but the major turnoff for me was the large lines (took us at least 35 min to get our food), and the lack of seating.
It might of been the timing of our trip, but i probably won't go back to Pizza planet again. In my opinion there are far too many restuarants to eat at at mgm to narrow it down to pizza planet.

For children, i could see how eating there would be fun with the arcade. For me it just didn't do it:earsgirl:

Our kids (DD4 & DS9) want to go here every trip. The pizza is not too bad - not the best and not the worst. We always eat upstairs and it's not too crowded. The kids like the arcades downstairs and we always play air hockey. One time we did see Jessie there playing the arcades.

It's decorated with Toy Story characters (including the lgm's hanging from the ceiling) but it's an exact replica from the movie.

If you have kids they will probably like it. Ours do.

It's basically a personal sized pizza , like a mini pan pizza from pizza hut.

No characters but cute Toy story theme. Good for fast food. If you're expecting gourmet and not fast food, it's not for you.

My boys loved it. Yes, the pizza was not the best- but I thought better than some of the national "hut" places. The pizza's weren't large, but my hubby and I split one and the boys split one. It was enough for lunch. We sat outside the arcade in the bistro area. That way we watched people, didn't have to deal with the lines or the arcade. We did let them play a game in the arcade.

The characters were just around the corner at Al's Toy Barn. If you have Toy Story freaks in the family it is fun. After all, Disney is about fun. Plan accordingly. As for the lines, we tend to eat "off times", just like when we are skiing. It helps.

Since you're talking about a kid, I'll give you a review from a kid. My sister ate there when she went two years ago. She loved it. I have read many bad reviews for this place, but from my understanding, they are all from adults, and adults have the "finer" tastes. Kids are very easily satisfied, especially when it comes to pizza.

Agreed... Kids like it... Adults tolerate it. The pizza is your basic white flour dough, bland sauce, and basic toppings in less than plentiful amounts.

We went in late September. We actually rushed to the Studios to make the last show of Bear/Blue House but we missed it. We were getting tired and hungry and the wait at Sci Fi was an hour. We found ourselves at Pizza Planet with about 10 other people. The pizza was just okay, but the best part was - as my husband was coming up the stairs with the food he said, "Woody, Buzz and Jessie are down there." My DS3 was so excited. The characters were playing air hockey and games with the 6 kids who were there. We were in the right place at the right time, I guess. Now I know we will have to return there next time we go and I suppose there won't be a character to be found.
