DW had a question this morning, and as I'm the first one done outside, I told her I'd ask. What on-site location has the best pizza in all of WDW?

Thanks!

If you don't mind traveling a short distance off-site, I highly recommend Giordanos!!!

We learned about it on the DIS and it's one of our "MUST DO'S" each & every trip!!

I think they also deliver to Disney property - but don't know how good it is when delivered. :confused3

Dont waste your money on any pizza in WDW. Even Via Napoli is not quite there yet but I think they have potential after they get more reps. Hit up Giordannos or Flippers.

As far a the individual pizzas at CS places, they all come from the same central kitchen and are heated for serving. Close to school cafeteria quality.

A few of the resort food courts have what they refer to as handmade pizza, meaning the pre-made crust is unwrapped by hand and toppings are applied to order. Not bad for a quick bite if you're hungry, but not great pizza either.

WPE in DTD Marketplace has decent individual size pizzas.

Some TS places have flatbread with toppings, either as an entree or appetizer. Some of these are good, but it's not real pizza.

Via Napoli in Epcot has interesting pizzas that are listed as authentic Italian. They are freshly made, but very very expensive and eat in only, they will not sell pizza to go. I hope they improve the pizzas here, these seem to have potential.

Yeah, I'd have to agree. The pizza in the world is almost, but not quite entirely unlike pizza. Having said that, I found the pizza place in AK and Pinocchio's in MK to be the most palatable of the lot. My last visit, I preferred to pack in my own PB&J sandwiches over the parks' pizza offerings.

It really is a pity, since pizza by the slice has an incredibly low food cost -- it's a very high profit margin item -- and should be able to be served very quickly. The most expensive component of your local pizza place's slice is the labor.

Via Napoli sounds interesting. I hope I get a chance to try it my upcoming visit in August 2011.

Oh, wait, if we're including ALL of WDW, then I do have to say that Wolfgang Puck's serves real pizza at Downtown Disney.

Until Via Napoli opened I'd have told you not to even bother looking for pizza at WDW - its uniformly bad.

But now that Via Napoli is open, we've been there three times and the pizza was uniformly good. Its worth a try.

Nice HHG2G reference!

I agree.

In fact, most of the pizza in Florida ranges from slightly palatable to downright awful. The best pizza I've had in the state -- and I've tried a zillion places across hundreds of miles -- is actually the regional chain, the Mellow Mushroom. If you're willing to drive, there's one in Orlando.

We really enjoy the pizza at WPE @ DTD.
Via Napoli has some interesting pizza choices. I didn't love the pizza there but DS7 enjoyed his kids cheese and DH enjoyed his.

The pizza window on the Boardwalk has pretty decent pizza.

I'm sorry, I must disagree.
If you are from a city with Italian food made by people of real Italian descent, you will find nothing in WDW acceptable. (I'll exclude Via Napoli from this assessment, because I haven't yet tried it.) The pizza at the WDW QS locations is a small step above Dominos.

The pizza on the Boardwalk is completely different than the other QS locations, and it is just as bad, but in a different way.

Giordano's is OK. (Not great)

I haven't tried Flippers, so I can't comment.

I've also seen NYPD pizza recommended by DISers, but again, I haven't tried it.

Thank you for all the responses. Via Napoli isn't a location we'd heard of before.

What about Il Mulino? Anybody have a pizza experience there?

this made me lol because it's so true. It's almost like real pizza, but it's not.

we were just talking about this today. why would you go to disney and eat pizza? you can have (better) pizza any time.

Via Napoli opened during the summer in Epcot at the Italian Pavillion. A number of good reviews.

Two weeks ago when we arrived at POP I forgot all my training here and told my sister we would get 2 individual pizzas to split among the family to hold us a few hours til Biergarten. A cm heard me and said oh, you want a large pizza with 2 drinks and 2 desserts for those 2 credits, right? Not only was it a lot more pizza, but it was much better pizza. We had to wait 10 minutes because they make the large pizzas to order, but worth the wait. Not as good as real pizza, but very good when you're hungry and pizza sounds good.

I've had the pizza at Pop. It's not better, IMO. Just larger.

Best onsite is Wolfgang Puck express(bbq chicken pizza is great). Offsite is Flippers(try the brd stix). I think people may be to hard on WDW pizza. The flat brd at WL and AKL is good and Toy Story at DHS or Pizzafari at AK are OK.:hippie:

None... Period. IMO anyone that actually finds the pizza anywhere on site to be good, I feel sorry for because that means they have even worse where they live.....

I really enjoyed Via Napoli, but you have to like wood-fired, more European style pizza. The topings are more sparse and the crust is the major thing. If you're looking for NY style, you'll be disapointed. As far as CS places go, the only one I like is Wolfgang Puck Express. The pizza at Pizza Planet in DHS isn't horrible and my kids will eat it, but it's basically DiGiorno frozen pizza.

To answer the why pizza at WDW question: we were walking our greyhound yesterday morning, and something Disney always comes up during those walks, especially with our trip drawing close. DW has clarified for me that she was thinking about the flatbread at Palo on DCL, and it got her thinking. And then, I commented that I'd never seen a thread about best WDW pizza. (not over here as much as other board sections, so perhaps it has been discussed) Now we know not to get the BW pizza. Sometimes, the smell is tempting...perhaps it is a case of all sizzle; no steak.

Agreed. I use the word "edible" to describe WDW pizza. It's better than the worst pizza I've ever had, but it's definintely not good. It's an easy, quick lunch, so we don't necessarily avoid it. We've been to Pizza Planet (which I think my kids choose more for the arcade than the food) a few times, PVH and Pizzafari. It's the same pizza at all three. I had the pizza from the Spoodles pizza window once. It was a gloppy, soggy mess--too much sauce, too much cheese and a flimsy, chewy crust. Blech.

I have my fingers crossed that Via Napoli will be good.
